Hope Cottage has the most amazing collection from the past.
The cottage is small but is full of items. The bedspread is just exquisite!
Outside there are a number of sheds with items ranging from telephones to equipment to farm implements. There is even a lighthouse!
The volunteer guide was most helpful and informative.
Hope Cottage is such an interesting museum and has one of the best collections we have seen.

Hope Cottage is set up as a historic memorial to the many facets of life on Kangaroo Island since the days of early settlement. Each room of the house, and each shed is thematically filled with collectables from a bygone era. Set aside a couple of hours to take it all in and definitely chat with the staff as they are well versed in the local history.

High on a hill in Kingscote this museum tells the story of Kangaroo Island from shipwrecked whalers to settlement, farming and life on an island. This is a National Trust property with a number of buildings with displays. Hope Cottage also has a rose garden of heritage roses including one cultivated from 1700's.

Hope Cottage is a very well maintained museum. Lots of interesting artefacts from the original settlers on the Island. Very helpful volunteers. Lots of books and a room to peruse them in about the Island and the early settlers. Really enjoyed my visit. Would like to go back.
