Even taking into account it being the one month of the year you cannot see Fairy Penguins and that temperatures up to 39 degrees C meant that kangaroos were only to be seen under trees/shrubs in the shade, it was a really good two days tour with Mark and Paul. The koalas in the wild and close up were wonderful and we still saw 'roos, wallabies, goanna, emu, seals and sealions as well. The beaches were lovely, the lunches an unexpected delight and the commentary informative and relevant. I would recommend it and would love to go back at a slightly cooler time of year for the penguins, whales etc. (and maybe that elusive echidna!)

I had the pleasure of booking a tour with Nikki at Odyssey. It was a private tour and it was wonderful. We spent 2 days and one night on the island. We were picked up at the airport where Nikki started the tour and explained what we would be doing. She even had a spare jacket for my mom who left it back on the main land. Nikki has a passion that is hard to match. She has a love for her island and wants to instill that love to you. She showed us the various highlights and there was not a question we asked that she did not know the answer to and provided us more then just a simple answer she explained how everything works together to great this wonderful island. While the tour was a little more expensive for being a private tour it was not that much more then the large bus tours. The privacy you get with the private tours is wonderful. You also get some extra places that the bus companies cannot get to.

Take the tour and definitely ask for Nikki. She will make your tour that much better for a wonderful island experience.

To experience a real taste of the wildlife in their natural habitat on Kangaroo Island then contact Nikki Redman at Kangaroo Island Odysseys. Nikki is a true inhabitant of KI and is passionate about the ecology, conservation, and preservation of the wildlife she lives with. Nikki liked to avoid the heavily traveled areas taking me off the road and into the bush to find the kangaroos, birds, koalas, and echidnas. What I loved the most was the stories and information about the wildlife and the island that she loves so much. One word of advise (LOL): don't get her started on ferrel cats! Just kidding Nikki.
