How fortunate were we to be treated to a wonderful weekend's stay at Abbey of the Roses. Our daughters had booked our stay to enjoy a place with a distinct difference. On arrival we immediately had a nice feeling when greeted by Sonia and Mark with their exceptionally welcoming manner. Our Catherine McCauley room was extremely comfortable with a feeling of yesteryear, but with all the mod cons. Breakfast both mornings was perfect. On Saturday evening in a totally unique atmosphere we enjoyed a fantastic Christmas in July dinner, together with approx 80 other people. During the evening both Sonia and Mark demonstrated their prowess as entertainers, making their presence known as various characters including Santa, plus the running of a Trivia session. This place offers the entire package for various occasions and we hope to revisit some time soon. Cheers John & Gill

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Sonia who showed us the downstairs area of the property & then to our room The Bavarian Room which was superb, very comfortable bed, small fridge, tea & coffee and a good size bathroom with private balcony. We had two nights here for the christmas in July dinner. This is where we met the other half Mark dressed as Santa welcoming the guests and then as an Elf it was a truly fun evening with plenty of delicious food and an endless supply of drinks, fun trivia and secret Santa gifts for all. Really a great evening and I recommend do christmas in July next year. The breakfast served at 8:30 was enough to fill even the hungriest person with fresh juice, tea, coffee, cereals, toast, and bacon poached eggs toast & baked beans.

Truly a remarkable relaxing weekend away thanks to Sonia & Mark :)

Room Tip: Recommend the Bavarian room.

What an impressive structure. It was our true privelidge to meet the couple that run this ex school and nunnery.

A task of restoration that few of us would even contemplate let alone pull off.

Let me say, I hate B&B's, but this was the exception.

We experienced the right balance of conversation and privacy that rarely seems to occur.

The bed was soft and warm, it was Warwick so this is a plus, and the adjoining bathroom was roomy and user friendly.

It is off the main road on a large allotment so was very quiet.

Breakfast in the magnificent dining room was exactly right and a treat.

Thank you for letting us share your wonderful building for the night.

Can heartily recommend for a pampered retreat.

Room Tip: It is really your own needs that will determin what room is best. The honeymoon room is wow, and as...

We had such a fantastic time At Abbey of the Roses. We arrived at 2pm and Sonia the owner gave us such a warm welcome and treated us like long lost friends. The history of the Abbey is so interesting and how lucky we were to stay in such a well cared for place. A must to stay!
We then enjoyed a fun Christmas in July dinner with pre dinner drinks in the lounge. A great evening entertained by the amazing Santa's helper (Mark the other owner). The owners are so hands on, it's great to see how enthusiastic they are. They genuinely went of their way to make our stay such a memorable one.
Our breakfast delicious and cuppa in the magnificent grounds made us feel so relaxed. Thank you Sonia and Mark, can't wait to return for some more rest and relaxation.

ng at the abbey has certainly set the bar high! We absolutely loved every second of our stay. The Bavarian Room was nothing less than glorious... Breathtaking would be a better suited description. Sonia and Mark were so lovely and made us feel right at home and Bazil was adorabl. We will most definitely return very soon and for a few nights instead of just one. Thank you for having us!

This is my only ever negative review of a Hotel property, in 5 countries. Needing to book 20 superior rooms to accommodate our guests at a function to be held on The Darling Downs in October. We drove 2!/2 hours from the Gold Coast with a view to look at the quality of accommodation available, We visited the Abbey Of The Roses and were met at the door by the rudest of women one could imagine, a real life female "Basil Fawlty", we did tell her the purpose of calling in, and that we had driven the 21/2 hours, only to be told that we could not view any rooms except by accessing their internet website. The best that the woman could do was to tell us that the rooms were all different, some smaller than others, and some were with an ensuite and some with a shared bathroom. Looking past Mrs Fawlty into the hall and stairway looked cold and most uninviting, with no warmth and eminating a very nasty, musty smell. Needless to say we would certainly not expose our 42 guests to this kind of dismal property or staff. As lovely as the many other people we encountered in this delightful little city of Warwick were, ( a special thanks to the "Warwick Visitors Centre" staff ). We have found a total contrast for our stay, which will now be in Toowoomba.

I am shocked that you would write an accommodation review without having even stayed here, unless you are a friend of Barbaras?
We do get people sometimes knocking on the door asking to look at the rooms but with other guests staying and functions it isn't possible to just show people through who turn up. I don't remember anyone dropping in saying the had travelled 2 1/2 hours and wanted to look at accommodation for 42 people, we can only accommodate up to 26 so I would have remembered and let them know we can't sleep 42. We are also full every weekend in October - maybe a phone call to a property prior to wanting to do a site visit would be a good idea?
I don't know who you are but imagine if you had been here with your friends and I took someone else to the rooms you were staying in to show them, you would have rightfully written a bad review on tripadvisor - we do need to respect peoples privacy.
We understand people want to look through our home that we feel so lucky to be living in and for this reason we try to open the house up about once a month for a tour of the downstairs.
To write these things about us for not being able to just drop everything and disturb guests or function (I don't know when you dropped in so don't know what we were doing) to appease you is really unfair and nasty.

You know you are onto a winner when your hosts have turned on the heating, electric blankets and even boiled the kettle to make your arrival as comfortable as possible!

Owners Sonia and Mark (and their "abbey cat") cut no corners to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. There's little intrusion combined with maximum professionalism.

The Abbey simply a great place to stay. On a chilly winters night it's warm inside. It's exceptionally clean, cleverly furnished and historically interesting.

We did not book for the dinner dining experience. We did, however, enjoy the breakfasts. As it turns out Sonia is a whizz at homemade yogurt making. Mark, a plumber by trade and the person who is overseeing the painstaking restoration of the Abbey, is apparently quite a hand in the kitchen ! You simply wonder where he finds the time - but he does and our fellow guests told us he cooks up a storm!

The Abbey of the Roses is a BnB experience not to to be missed. We'll certainly return.

To those who have been there and sing it's praises all we can say is "Amen!"

Room Tip: Tell hostess Sonia exactly what you are seeking and you will be guided to the best option.
