Just stayed at Abbey of the Roses on the weekend (1 & 2 Feb) for our anniversary. What a beautiful building. I had been looking for converted churches etc to stay at and when I googled the Abbey, I loved it. I booked the Bavarian Room, a beautiful big room with stained glass windows at one end and romantic four poster bed at the other plus a large private deck. We had the champagne on arrival and I also ordered the romantic dinner which was so lovely. The hosts Sonia and Mark are such friendly, and welcoming people. And of course Basil the cat who is extra friendly when he wants you to let him out at night. We had a cooked breakfast both mornings, which were very good and filling. The building itself is so amazing, all the old timber work and beautiful old ceilings. We would love to stay there again. Sam & Neil

This place is unbelievable. Once inside its unique and hallowed walls you experience a surreal sense of WOW. It's incredible to think that the owners allow you to touch and feel the bygone era that is so apparent. Words are not enough to describe the experience my wife and I shared for the weekend.
You've just got to stay at the Abbey of the Roses and whilst you're there, ask Mark if you can inspect his collection of old telephones!

Room Tip: Book early and ask for the best room in the house

We went to a family wedding held at the Abbey. The wedding was in the Chapel and the reception was in the Long Room. Sonia and Mark are the most hard working and lovely people. They made our stay fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed their company as well as making sure that the wedding was a success and it was. The breakfast was very filling and the meals were fantastic. We would highly recommend the Abbey to anybody wanting to have a relaxing and fun filled time.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Atic. Very comfortable and quiet

We were lucky enough to spend a weekend at the Abbey, a well deserved break from our four kids. We barely left the room, slept and watched movies. The Bavarian room was so cosy and the Abbey hosts were wonderful people.

Room Tip: For a romantic getaway, go to the top, the Bavarian room for sure.

We had looked at a number of venues to host our wedding, but after we'd visited The Abbey and met Sonia & Mark, we didn't bother to look any further.

Both were incredibly accomodating in their approach and we were blown away with the quality of the rooms. We stayed in the master bedroom (above the chapel) which is resplendant with velvet and old world charm, complete with a fireplace (lookalike) and 4 poster bed to boot.

One look at the photos of this place and you should be sold- yes, it really is as wondrous as it looks. We're planning to return for our 1 year anniversary.

My friends and family stayed at the abbey for our wedding in July! Our wedding was held in the abbeys chapel with the reception following in the long room of the abbey!!! The staff are amazing, the facilities are perfect and the hosts are an amazing couple who made our special day/weekend more than we could ever dream of!!!!!! The beds are comfy the rooms are clean, the breakfasts are hearty and they will even cook the bacon to your liking!!!! If your really lucky mark (host) might even tell you about the abbeys history over breakfast! Maybe even a ghost story or two!!!! We will be back to celebrate our anniversaries in the years to come!!!! Cannot recommend this place enough, for weddings, murder mysteries, or for a weekend escape!!!!! Love the guys at the abbey of the roses, Sonia and mark will look after you!!!!

Have wanted to stay here for some years now & finally we made the time & how glad we are.
We were greeted by Sonia who made us very welcome & gave us a tour of which room we would like to spend the night in, of course we chose the biggest most amazing room, four poster bed, electric blanket, beautiful stained glass windows, sun shone in our room in the morning, great views it was just "awesome", we felt so much love in the place, Sonia & Mark are amazing hosts, who found time to sit & chat with us & cooked us an amazing breakfast. We hope to visit again soon & appreciated the opportunity. Highly recommend this amazing place right on our doorstep. Wish you both every success. We also loved Basil who kept an eye on us as well.

Room Tip: We chose Bavarian Room but all the rooms looked great, cosy & attractive.
