My wife had spoken of L'Unico with glowing reviews and decided to take me there for lunch! never one to pass an opportunity to spend time with my better half or get a free lunch I jumped at the chance. After a morning taking it easy at Ellis Beach we made our way to the seaside village of Trinity Beach had a beer at the pub (another good spot!) and then meandered to L'Unico for a bite.
Got a great table on the veranda and was served drinks very quickly the wine was great the beer could have done with being kept in an esky of ice rather than a fridge (it’s something that gets done well in PNG and Nth QLD bar and restaurant operators would do well to follow suit, serve your Bottles of white wine or champers, stubbies/ cans of any beverage from an esky of ice rather than the fridge!) our order was taken and the food came within a good time frame
The Garlic bread excellent, Calamari first class, the Fetta, rocket, beetroot and pine nut salad great, the freshly shucked SA oysters absolute stand outs a slam dunk for sure, but the winner on the day by a half a head was the mussels in a chilli and tomato sauce holy guacamole they were sensational and I would come back simply to have them again and again freaking delicious is the only way to sum them up. The Mussels were so tender and juicy the sauce thick but not gluggy with lots of flat leaf parsley and chunks of fresh chilli simply sensational.
A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours on the beach front in tropical Nth QLD you really should try the dishes we had they were delicious indeed thanks for a great lunch to the team (and my wife!!)
