“Relax at Marlin Cover Resort”
Reviewed October 26, 2006

We stayed at MARLIN COVE RESORT in september, 2006 & it really felt like we had a holiday, with it's beach lagoon pool, plenty of bbq's & all the other amenities which are situated in 10 acres of lush tropical vegetation & only 400 metres from the pristine Trinity Beach which is situated on the Marlin Coast, it also boasts some of the best restaurants in the world & believe me it's true especially Lunico's & Atlantis Restaurants +it now boasts a brand new hotel with fab views great facilities & awesome food. The area is central to all the major attractions be it the Reef or the Rainforest. We especially would like to thank Liz, Terry & Wendy for the wonderfull greetings they give to all the arriving guests & to the effort they put in to make your stay one to remember.

Stayed in a two bedroom apartment for two weeks from 2/10/06. Trinity Beach is a perfect base from which to explore the North Queensland area, and in particular the Barrier Reef and Rainforest. Our first impression of Marlin Cove Resort is that it was a little 'tired' in decor but in truth that is a little harsh and we found it to be clean and well equipped. Terry and his staff could not be more helpful and they gave us all the information needed to make our stay comfortable. We booked all our trips through the reception and that included car hire. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the resort and a supermarket about 10 minute walk. Lunico's is a decent restaurant and so is the Sports Bar/Hotel on the water front. Would recommend Quicksilver for the Barrier Reef trip and go to Kuranda via the train and come back on the skyrail. We did day trips to Cairns, Atherton Tablelands, Palm Cove and Port Douglas. The Sebel Reef at Palm Cove is recommended for excellent food. All in all Marlin Cove did us proud and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

  • Liked — Location and cleanliness
  • Disliked — Some dated decor
  • Tips/Secrets — Speak to Terry in reception and he will answerall your queries

Stayed here on a recommendation when we were let down somewhere else. Give them a call - they are willing to do a deal and certainly match website offers.

Stayed in a 2 bed apartment which gave us loads of room to spread out. Kitchen facilities were fine but getting a bit tired. The place feels a few years old, but everything worked OK. Could have done with a more comfy sofa, and the decor was out of date, but other than that everything was fine in the apartment.

The gym facilities were better than we expected - a few bits of cardio equipment that helped us work off a few holiday pounds before we headed off for something to eat. There is a new pub that has only just opened but was very busy - the Italian was nice.

Our only adverse comment would be that the lagoon pool area didn't have many areas to sit or lie around. So if a couple of people had grabbed a book to go and read then there was nowhere left to go.

Otherwise everything was great and a really good place to base yourself from if you have a few days in Cairns.

  • Liked — Friendly and warm welcome
  • Disliked — Pool to sit around
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for a deal!

we are a family of four, two children at 13yrs and 15yrs-two boys, we went to the marlin cove resort at trinity beach where we spent 3 weeks in a self catering apartment, we all had the most fantastic time and the resort itself was very friendly by staff and other holidaymakers as well as the locald who were only to eager to help and advise where to go and how to get there, our apartment was right outside the pool which had two barbeque areas, spa pool and beach, the apartment was very clean and had everything you needed. Trinity beach was only about a 10 nin walk and had a little parade of shops which included a shop, swimwear outlet, which ladies offers excellent service if you want your own thing made,take-away and eat in and a bar, everything was catered for in such a short distance,we found it lovely and quiet,no hustle and bustle and very clean, another parade of shops were another 10 min walk in the other direction of the resort and maybe about a 20 min walk was the bowls club where you could go down early evening and see the wild wallabies running around, just up the road was cairns tropical zoo-very enjojable and going towards port douglas was hartleys crocodile farm, you actually learn alot here as well as seeing many other animals in their habitat, the skyrail also close by is a must to experience and its worth going up by the train and coming down by skyrail, there are loads of beaches to see along the way and going from marlin to port douglas is the best beach drive you will ever have, make sure you stop along the way and savour the coast-superb. visit granite gorge where you get to feed the wild rock wallabies and swim in the weir with turtles as well as walk along the tracks and see the outback from one of the many huge boulders, kuranda village you can get there by driving or the skyrail and frain experience. this village is great with other attractions like the buterfly and bird world as well as the reptile centre and hidden down near the reptile centre is a lady who looks after the fruit bats and she will actually get one of these little adorables out. go to queens, and it was fantastic and there is so much to see and do and if you want a town cairns is only a drive away and offers everything as well as a lagoon pool and lovely esplanade and marina and shopping malls, i cant mention everything there is to do so go for yourself and have a good time

Excellent apartment and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and friendly. All the trips that my friend and I went on were booked for us and very good value for money. The "must go" trips for me were the Night Zoo, Cook Town, Karunda and the Great Barrier Reef.

Hoping to visit again in 2007 with my family.
