“Great location - good enough”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Brilliant location. No great views but we didn't spend a lot of time here. Across the road from the wharf and a very short stroll to the esplanade. Great friendly staff and good value for money. Free parking. Lots and lots and LOTS of places to eat nearby.

Room Tip: Higher levels would give better views.

I had the fortune of winning a 4 night package through Facebook otherwise I don't think I would have ever ended up here!I have to say though its turned out to be quite a pleasant experience thus far, the apartment is well presented & maintained & whilst its not directly on the waterfront it's location is fantastic! I have found it quiet & relaxing, the choice of nearby places to eat are plentiful but the on site Thai restaraunt is very good.Overall a great getaway !

Deciding to take a short break to Moolooaba, we purchased a 4 night package in a one bedroom apartment at Nautilus recently. Heading to the coast after work the night before Anzac day and taking the Friday off work gave us a 4 day weekend.

We purchased the package back around November/December at $99 per night. This represented good value - though to pay much more I would be expecting a fair bit more.
The apartments are set back a little - a short walk to the patrolled beach and surf club. The service from the staff was brilliant - attending to our requests very happily. The exterior is well looked after with the gardens and general public areas all very clean. Pool is well maintained.

Our unit was on the 4th floor and being a single-room apartment - faced into the centre of the complex over the pool area. The verandah was a good size and made a pleasant place to sit - though somewhat public - as the walkway to the larger units is directly opposite. Also the pool area is very noisey - this was especially so with the southern states still being on school holiday.

The unit inside was very basic, small kitchen and seating for 3 on a lounge that was difficult to sit comfortably in while watching tv. There was an air-conditioner unit in the lounge and fans in both that room and the bedroom. One night was a little stuffy and the aircon struggled to reach the bedroom. The bathroom/laundry was a good size with a spa and shower. You had to step up into the spa to shower and getting out could be a challenge (especially with no handrail to assist if required). Water pressure and temperature were excellent. Towels were quite good.

The queen-sized bed was a very basic ensemble and quite hard. Extra pillows were provided. There was a good amount of storage in the wardrobe and side tables and a small tv was also in this room.

Both the lounge and bedroom doors were sliders which made a pleasant outlook and was nice with the doors open throughout the day, though we felt we couldn't leave them open during the night for security reasons and there were no other windows in the unit.

All in all, a pleasant stay. Good location, comfortable venue and friendly staff. There were a large number of young families staying so one would assume it is family friendly. A well equipped gym was also available.

Bang for buck it represented good value at the price we paid. At its normal full price I would be looking and have had a couple more stars elsewhere!

Room Tip: The 5th level is not overlooked like the lower floors. Suggest 4th or 5th is preferable and away fr...

Where do I begin. I am usually fairly open minded and easy going when it comes to reviews as every one has different expectations but when I stayed here with my wife and young son, parents in-law, brother in-law and grandparents we can't all be wrong can we? First impressions where disappointing. Units where small in comparison to most places we have stayed. I like to think that if it sleeps four then it should seat four. Not so. We had outdoor setting chairs inside permanently due to the lack of lounge type seating. We wouldn't have to do this usually as there is a dining setting to fall back on but again. Not so. Bedding in the two units we rented was the sore point. Quite literally. I get that firm beds probably last longer as they are harder wearing but the beds here are beyond ridiculous. Sleep was virtually non existent in the end I ended up sleeping on the couch which was far superior to the bed. It was so insufferable that we ended up leaving a day early just to get some sleep. The pros. There are the usuall appointments kitchen wise but be prepared to hand wash your dishes. Laundry was well appointed with relatively new washer, dryer and ironing gear, but the one we had tended to pour hot water all over the floor when you used any setting other than cold. Tv- DVD setup was good, new gear with USB capability. Bedrooms and living area had ceiling fans fitted but only had one speed despite being three speed fans. The outdoor area was good having its own spa and BBQ. That said the BBQ had enough rust to put a Datsun to shame. The pool was small but deep and well designed, never really crowded and the attached kiddy pool and spa where a hit. The main pool was meant to be heated but was freezing, probably due to being surrounded by nine storeys of rooms on three sides. The staff where the high point of our stay here. They where all friendly and courteous. Nothing was too much effort and are a real credit to this hotel.

Thank you Galladry78 for the feedback on your recent stay. We are pleased to hear that your family enjoyed our spa and paddling pool, however your comment that the main pool was freezing is puzzling. The five storeys of apartments do not affect the pool temperature which is monitored daily and maintained at 28 degrees.

We are disappointed that you say you had to check out after 5 nights of your 6 night booking due to not sleeping. We did supply your family with some mattress topper pads when it was mentioned to us that one of the guests did not have a good sleep and when we enquired the next day, we were told that he slept much better. We could have supplied more topper pads if we had known there was still a problem.

Regarding the furniture, one of your apartments had 2 x 2 seater couches and the other a chaise lounge both therefore seating the number of guests they sleep. Most of our apartments do not have an indoor dining setting but they do have a breakfast bar and bar stools.

It is pleasing that you found our staff friendly and courteous and that nothing was too much effort and we would suggest that next time you contact us directly to book so that we can accommodate your family’s specific requirements.

The best thing about Nautilus Apartments is their location - just a short block to the beachfront, surf club, children's playground and the restaurant and shopping strip on the esplanade. Across the road its a very short stroll to Underwater World and the marina.

The second best thing about Nautilus Apartments is the pool - it looks quite small in the photos, but its big enough for a nice relaxing swim. We stayed over Easter, and even then the pool area was never crowded. It is supposed to be heated although it was not really that warm. The spa was warm though, and usually a popular spot.

So that just leaves the apartments themselves which were clean, completely acceptable but nothing exciting. The living area is small and there is no dining table, only a breakfast bar with stools. The kitchen is a "kitchenette" - there is a cook top and microwave, but no oven. And you'll be doing your own dishes.

Our unit was at the front of the complex with one balcony overlooking the pool (the one which we used the most) and another larger balcony overlooking the front street (noisier). Unfortunately the people in the residential units right next door held an all-night party with loud music one night which meant very little sleep for us.

We enjoyed our stay at Mooloolaba and really liked the location of Nautilus. All things considered Nautilus was pretty good value compared to other places in Mooloolaba, especially over the Easter period when prices tend to get inflated. Next time though I would probably have a look elsewhere first, maybe for a place with water views......

A little bit dated and in need of a good scrub. We considered extending our stay and enquired as to what the price would be. Was considerably cheaper than booking through agency. The price offered direct at the resort are a truer reflection rather than through agency. Has everything you need and is a nice short walk to shops and beach. Not worth the cost through agency.

Prior to Easter I had a wonderful two week stay at the Nautilus. The pool and waterfall are relaxing and soothing, a private little nook in the sun to work on your tan. I loved the prices, the room, my spa (which I miss) and the service. I had a few issues which needed attending to and I have to applaud management and staff for their good customer service and immediate response. Thank you so much for making my stay a good one :)

Room Tip: My room was overlooking the pool - sunny in the mornings and much quieter than rooms facing the str...
