We stayed in a one bedroom beachside studio apartment, we were very taken with the location and the view from the balcony. The room is cosy loved the spa bath and the kitchenette
was very suitable. We had a wonderful massage from the Waterfall Day Spa it was a couples package and well worth it. We used the spa on the roof and loved the smell of the barbeque and fantastic views at night. We will return again and again.

My husband and myself and another couple stayed at the Landmark for the first time this past week-end for the Mooloolaba triathlon. I booked early (June last year) as I knew this would be a very busy week-end in Mooloolaba and I found the booking procedure was excellent. We booked a two bedroom executive apartment for which I was required to pay $100 deposit.

I was contacted two weeks before our arrival and asked to pay the full amount to make our check in process quicker due the large traffic of people they expected. I don't know what would have happened had I refused this request.

The apartment pros:-

Fabulous ocean views on a high floor which was exactly as requested, room 8103.
Wonderful large balcony, a great place to relax and enjoy the views.
The resort is in the best position in Mooloolaba, directly across the road to a very safe beach, walking distance to all shops and restaurants so you have your pick.
Very comfortable beds which, to me, is essential for a good holiday.
Great set up for two couples, two adequate bathrooms and very private.
Well equipped kitchen if you want to do basic meals. This is a resort, not a hotel per se so there is no daily replenishment of basics like tea, coffee, bin bags, dishwasher detergent etc. so it is wise to bring or buy your own supplies.
The staff I felt were very friendly and courteous and happily allowed my husband to store his bicycle in the conference room near reception which was really thoughtful given the number of people who were arriving with bikes for the triathlon.

Cons:

Upon entering the first thing we noticed was the very unpleasant smell (mentioned in an earlier review) which we immediately assumed to be the carpet. My feeling was that the windows in the living room had been left opened and rain had come in and wet the carpet which had not been properly cleaned or, better still, replaced.
We found the apartment surprisingly small given its title of "executive." One can only guess what size the other apartments are.
The living room furniture is very tired and a bit shabby looking but I have seen worse so we didn't mind this so much.
I agree with a former reviewer who mentioned that being asked to leave the apartment clean (to a point) is a bit steep given that it does have a 4.5 star status. Also having to buy dishwasher detergent and bin bags when on a three day stay is a rip off.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily stay at the Landmark again. The carpet situation seriously needs attention and whilst we happily lived with it, had it not been such a busy week-end and the position of the apartment so good, we probably would have requested a change of room. I would recommend the resort to friends in the hope that management take on board the comments of its reviewers.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for executive rooms for the position and views.

Stayed in a two bedroom apartment. Very poor layout meant that our baby had to sleep in the dining nook as there was no room for the cot in either bedroom. Hardly enough room to open our suitcase in the bedroom. The wardrobe in the main room had a humungous cathode ray television in it so couldn't be used for anything.

Carpet was manky due to humidity and proximity to beach. Cleanliness was okay but not great - debris under sofa and the corners of the room not really cleaned. Decor was a bit naff.

Didn't visit the pool as we were across the road from the Surf Club so no need to go far for a swim. Such a great location.

Big bugbear was the 'extras' that should really have been included in this level of accommodation weren't: towels for the pool and cleaning on departure. A 4.5* apartment shouldn't expect me to empty the bins on leaving. Nor should I have to pay for towels for the pool. I just don't get the RACQ rating system and find it difficult to understand why I'm paying extra. I don't care about having a TV in each room (in fact I hate this with a passion). I do care about things being clean, modern and included in the room rate.

Great location. Not a great hotel as I can't justify the rating based on the quality of the room.

Unfortunately there was only 1 lift in operation which was painful as we were forever waiting for a lift only to be disappointed as it was always full when it did arrive. Particularly at check out time, with no option to use the stairs with all the luggage. The other complaint is the air conditioning did not seem to work very well and the fan in the lounge did not work. However, on the plus side, the staff were excellent, the room was spotless, the view was outstanding and the location unbeatable. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great stay.

We are regular guests at the Landmark and can't fault the resort in any way. We stayed at the resort when the lifts we out of order too but found the staff absolutely wonderful during the difficult time. This was no fault of the staff and guests who abused them for the inconvenience should be ashamed of themselves. We will continue to stay at the Landmark Resort for many years to come. The location is fantastic and the rooms, facilities and staff are truely something that makes the Landmark special. My sugestion is to always contact the resort direct to make your booking and ask what they have to offer. The staff there go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. This resort is 4 1/2 star not 5 but the greeting you get from all the staff is certainly 5 star.

Room Tip: We always stay in a one bedroom unit and the ocean view to Point Cartwright is beautiful but if you...

I have stayed here now 3 times over the January period each time has been great!
First time i stayed with friends in a Rooftop Spa apartment in December 2009 which was amazing!! Our other friends stayed in the 3 bedroom terrace which also had a spa and was alot bigger - so i would recommend this to anyone staying in a large group, such as a family with 3 kids.

The other 2 times i have stayed have been with family and we have enjoyed the three bedroom apartments. We have not managed to get a terrace or rooftop (i think these have permanent bookings in January!!) so if you want them you should probably get in early!!
The pool is great, and the location is even better - literally 100m from the beach, shops and restaurants are downstairs - and the restaurants are great!! especially Olivers and the Vietnamese place.

The only negative comment i have to say is that one of the reception staff is brutal! I don't recall her being there on my third trip in 2012 but on the previous two occasions she was blatantly rude to my friend in 2009 by telling her we were not allowed to put the deposit on credit card - although this had previously been accepted and spoken about - after a heated discussion it was resolved and she accepted the credit card. And then on a second occasion in 2011 she was rude to my mother.

See you next January Landmark!

Room Tip: Front rooms are amazing with a view of the beach! If you can - get the rooftop spa or terrace apartm...

What a ripp off, these place was supposed to be 5 star. 1 lift did not work the whole time we were there and then for half a day all lifts were out, air con in our room didn't work, neither did the hair dryer, then for 1 day the spa was not working. But the most disappointing thing was the attitude of the staff, I have never been to a hotel with such rude staff. The only good thing about this place was the location, other than that it was crap, we had a few people stay here and everyone said they would never stay here again. Oh yeah and before check out time a cleaner walked into our room with out knocking and said they need to clean the room. Def not the service of a 5 star hotel, def do not recommend.
