We loved our time at Sandcastles - the views gave a 270 degree un-interupted vista of the the beach/sea and surrounding areas. Lucky to have the sun from sunrise to sunset Location could not be faulted and the reception staff were always extremely helpful and friendly. We have booked again for next years holiday and that can't come soon enough). Lots of excellent eateries closeby and the Surf Club across the lane is excellent.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room either on the 3rd or 4th floor.

After not visiting the Sunshine Coast for about 30yrs, we recently enjoyed 5 nights here. Booked direct with the apartments(all 1 bedroom) as they were still cheaper than the wholesalers/online last minutes etc & got to ask for a specific room. We stayed in Room 408 which was a 1 bedroom ocean rooftop apartment. The rooftop deck is private access, very private & had great views to the south, over the beach & to Point Cartwright. Upstairs deck (about 50sq m) has an electric bbq, sun lounges & table & chairs & option of shade or sun. The apartment had Self-contained kitchenette, good shower, washing machine /dryer, reverse air conditioning, ceiling fans, few stations of Austar / DVD (not great quality picture on Austar but Free to air is fine). Parking was secure, spacious undercover with penty of room. We didn't see anyone else using the spa or pool while we were there. We had a look at the penthouse room & thought the view was not as good & certainly not worth the extra nightly cost. There are plenty of photos on the apartments website.
I had my own wireless internet but noted here & many apartments on the Sunshine Coast were charging for access. The apartments have much less passing traffic than some located more towards Alexandra Headand. Being straight across a lane from the Surf Club was very convenient although there was a refurb going on there & the garbage trucks do get around early. With all apartments being 1 bedroom we thought this was an advantage for us over some of the other apartment complexes
Nearby we enjoyed plenty of walking, cheap but good food & jagged great shorts & T shirt weather

Room Tip: Thought the extra room of the rooftop was a great advantage.

We stayed at sandcastles for a week of our honeymoon. On discovering we were honeymooners the staff upgraded us to a top floor apartment with a rooftop which was just gorgeous. We stayed in 403 and were really happy with everything. Having a washer/dryer in our own bathroom was so helpful, especially when we were fishing/swimming. The rooftop balcony was such a great facility, it was a shame we weren't entertaining. There's a lovely BBQ, outdoor setting and sunh lounges and the most incredible view. Our only thing to note was that the hot water system is fairly small so you can't be too indulgent with your showers.
We will be returning to sandcastles again for sure.

Room Tip: The higher the better. 403 appeared to have been renovated as it had newer outdoor furniture and bal...

We stayed at the Sandcastles on the Beach for one night as my husband was fishing in a Kayak tournament. After reading some of the negative reviews I was reluctant to book but glad I took the chance! We stayed in apartment 308 and had great views of the ocean. Just a pity the night we stayed the weather was not good! The apartment was adequate for two people and very clean. Security and the car park was excellent as access to the lifts and doors were only by your room keys. Location wise was convenient as we were close to the beach, restaurants and underwater world. The staff were friendly and made you feel at home.
We will be back! Thank you

Room Tip: Request an ocean view appartment

We stayed at Sandcastles on the Beach for one night (Saturday). We had a Standard Deluxe Unit which cost $179. We felt that, overall, it was not worth the money.
We had mixed feelings about the actual accommodation. On the positive side, the staff were friendly but the office closed at 4:30pm and there was a $50 charge if you needed the assistance of a staff member before 8:30am the next day! There were full kitchen facilities (without a dishwasher) and laundry facilities but the dryer broke down after about three minutes meaning that I had to wear some wet clothes. When I spoke to the Manager about this, he was apologetic and told me that I could use another dryer but this was not possible as we had an appointment to get to. The rooms are tiny (especially the shower) and there are minimal toiletries and towels provided - 1 face washer, 1 hand towel, 2 bath towels,1 hair shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 tiny soap, There was an air conditioner and ceiling fans which were effective and a nice balcony. We were on the 2nd floor so our view was blocked by the surf club for a good view of the ocean. You are expected to leave the kitchen as you find it and not leave rubbish in the room or a further charge could be made. We found the fact that the dishes have been washed by a previous occupant to be unacceptable as there is no dishwashing liquid provided so it's more than likely that the dishes were just rinsed rather than properly washed. We also had to remove our own rubbish on the way out which was a little annoying when we had a reasonably tight schedule. The location is quite good if you have a car but there are only quite expensive restaurants and a (not cheap for dinner) surf club plus 2 convenience stores close by for food/meals. It is, however, very close to the beach which is a big plus. There is a pool and spa which we didn't use as it was not available until 8am in the morning and we had to leave by 8:30am. The security is good but the location of the car park and the way you get into the reception area on the other side of the building from the car park entrance makes things a little awkward. There is a very good flat screen TV with cable and digital channels plus DVD and CD players which was good. There was internet which cost $16.50 for a continuous 24 hour period. We were not there a full 24 hours but it was more expensive to choose the hourly rate. The bed was comfortable. We thought that the unit was dated and resembling a unit we would have stayed in during the 1980s. However, apart from the dryer, everything "worked". Overall, it was fine for an overnight visit to the Sunshine Coast.

Room Tip: It would be good to have a full ocean view if available - which wasn't the case when we enquired...

I booked a deluxe apartment online but was fortunate enough to be upgraded by the lovely managers to the 4 floor ocean view room with my own private roof top patio. The view from both the balconies was amazing. The apartment itself was spotless and well appointment with everything needed and of generous size.

There was a flat screen in the bedroom as well as the lounge the bed itself was very comfortable with 4 pillows so didn't have to request extras. The apartment was serviced daily which generally you don't get from most places.

The location is perfect just behind the surf club so is within walking distance to everything. The free secure car park made coming and going easy.

As a single female guest I felt safe and the owners where on hand if any information was needed.

I will be definitely going back to stay..
