“Fraser Island day trip”

While it is a long day it is well worth it.They were v prompt time wise, which was great as would have been annoyed to wait around in the early hours of the morning. Our driver, guide, cook,... the talented Mark was a mine of interesting info, making it a v informative tour. He was also v helpful & friendly. Be aware that most of the day is spent in the 4 wheel drive bus but that is part of the fun, as you drive down sand beaches, through rain forest and along bumpy tracks through lots of interesting vegetation. Scenery was fab, as you would expect, & the variety in vegetation in just short distances was fascinating. The food is usually pretty ordinary on that sort of tour but was much better than expected & included v good prawns/ steak/ fish, & home cooked bikkies, etc.
Would have liked to have had a bit of time to walk along the stunning beaches we drove along but understand that time was tight ços of the tides.
All in all a great way to spend a day, provided you can cope with some hard driving (those with neck or back problems should think twice about doing this one). We had a stunning day but wouldn't be so good in the rain I suspect.

“Tour the world's largest sand island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

This all day tour is well worth the time and expense. We left Noosa about 6:30 am and were out all day. The tide was out when we left Noosa so we drove half way to Frazer Island along the beach in a national park. Bryce, our driver, was friendly and also full of facts about Frazer Island. We had 14 people on our bus. Bryce did a good job of entertaning us. He also encouraged people to change seats at each stop (the interior roads are very bumpy so sitting on the last row of seats is like being on an amusement park ride). Although the island is about 75 miles long, we only drove about 25 miles up the beach before turning inland. The dunes in the interior rise to 600 feet. There is a two foot layer of decayed plant material that provides the nourishment for the rain forrest. Lunch at Lake McKenzie was an outdoor bar-b-que with grilled steak and sausages--quite a bit better than the usual tour fare. We enjoyed the walk in the rain forrest to Wanggoolba Creek-especially the dingo sighting (we saw a second dingo while driving on the beach). The water in Wanggoolba Creek may be the clearest you will ever see in a woodland stream. Driving back to the ferry landing was at high tide so we drove through waves and finally stopped for tea to let the tide go out. It was a long day but well worth it.

“Great day out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

An early 5.30 am start from Caloundra saw us picked up on time by car and taken to Noosa where we met the off road bus, also on time. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgable. His commentary was peppered with jokes and friendly jibes at the Kiwis and newly weds which fostered a sense of cameraderie within the group. Even though the tracks were quite rough thanks to a lack of maintenance by Dept of National Parks it was an enjoyable trip with several stops for refreshments and toilet breaks. Lunch was comprehensive enough to suit all tastes. On return to Noosa we were met again on time by car and taken back to Caloundra. Not recommended for kids or the infirm.

“Fraser Island”

Bryce, the tour guide/driver was informative, friendly and had a good sense of humour and made a very enjoyable day. His knowledge of the island impressed us. Fraser Island was a great place to visit with the beach and especially Lake McKenzie.

“Great day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

This was certainly an adventure. As they had been unable to use Rainbow Beach all year we were lucky enough to travel along it. Not so lucky when we crossed to the Island by ferry as the truck got stuck briefly. BBQ lunch after travelling through the rain forest was a feast of king prawns and steaks. Then trouble again as the alternator died - a quick tow by another truck and on our way. Halfway back to the ferry it gave up totally so had to get the island's breakdown service to bring us 2 new batteries to get us to Rainbow Beach where we were met by a replacement vehicle to get us home. Despite all of this we had a great day out. Good bunch of people and fantastic informative driver - Bryce.
