Quensland Air Museum is close to the Caloundra CBD. It is a community owned museum preserving Australia's civil and military air history and heritage. It houses Australia's biggest collection and displays of aircraft history and exhibitions. Be prepared to spend several hours to fully appreciate the many and varied aircraft on display. The highlight is the F111 which is in pristine condition. Its worth the visit on its own. Its easy walking with many of the aircraft on display undercover and there is easy access to many aircraft for a look into the cockpits and some with walk through opportunities. This should be on your holiday must do list whilst on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

I took my eldest son here for a morning as we live not far and have never been. This was a great way to spend the morning, lots of aircraft to see and read about and other great air memorabilia too. I would definitely have this on my to do list on the Sunshine Coast.

Huge display of aircraft's, memorabilia, F111 is massive, public jets, army, navy and air force, little planes, helicopters absolutely mind boggling. engine displays, friendly helpful staff who are passionate and knowledgeable in regards to aircraft's and their history. Good value for money. It was enjoyable to watch my husband look at the displays like kids would look into a lolly shop. Great outing :) Well worth a visit.

Well worth a visit especially if you love air crafts. This museum has the best and most collection of any air museum we have been to.
The kids loved being able to go in some of the air crafts and touching buttons to light up model air planes. So many model planes on display from all around the world.
You can purchase model planes and toys from the shop as well as coffee/tea.
There's even a kids corner, a big hit with my young kids.
Toilet facilities are well cleaned and grounds are well maintained, really well looked after over all. Easily accessible on foot and on wheels (prams and wheelchairs).

This museum is not too far off the Bruce Highway if you're looking for a stop off.

The F111 is a great addition to the collection and the whole place has smartened up since we last visited. There are a some interesting displays focusing on the contribution of Queenslanders, for example Don Bennett who led the Pathfinders of Bomber Command in World War 2 and rose to Air Vice Marshall.

It was interesting getting close to the cockpit of the F111, it's a big aircraft and the pilot appears to have a very narrow forward view, like looking through a big letter box. It has big wheels as well.

The aircraft collection is well laid out and you can climb up some boarding steps to take a panoramic photo of the whole display in the second building. There are quite a lot of military jets from the 50s, some brought over from Singapore. It's a good collection and well worth seeing.

The museum has a drink machine and shop. I walked from Caloundra Bus Station which is over a mile away with no pavement for the last stretch. There is a bus service but it's not very frequent. There is a Tourist Info building on the way into Caloundra just before a roundabout.

As it's on an airfield you can view a few aircraft and there was a smart bi-plane near the museum unloading its lucky single passenger from the front seat. It was a good visit and I'd recommend it.

Caloundra has a few nice beaches and a good boardwalk. I'd recommend the cafe at Moffett Beach.
