“Nice food but poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

I dined at this establishment a few years ago and thought it was top notch so was looking forward to eating there again. Sadly the standard has dropped considerably since our last visit. We had dinner there mid week recently. After the waiter (who appeared to be chatting to acquaintances at the bar) finally acknowledged our presence when we arrived, he seated us at a table with ocean views and plonked down a bottle of Fiji bottled water with a $5 price tag prominently displayed. No offer of a jug of tap water was ever made and we did not request it. This did not give a welcome feel to the restaurant as most resturants in Queensland generally give a free jug of water on arrival.

We ordered drinks which arrived promptly. Our meal arrived in a timely manner and the food generally was good. The steak was cooked just right and the fish was well presented. However we ordered a side of chips and they were old and smelt of stale oil and looked like they had been reheated from lunch time and were inedible. They cost $5.50 so we felt a little ripped off.

The desserts were nice with quite a good choice but at $10-$11 they were fairly overpriced for a slice of cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream on the side. When our bill arrived we found we had been charged an additional $25 for drinks we did not order or consume. Only four tables were occupied the entire time we were there, so how did they get it so wrong? I wonder what the service would be like on a busy night.

Overall a very ordinary dining experience, let down by poor service.

“Lunchtime Specials”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

We have ofetne walked past Moo before and seen the evening menu which is quite pricey. This time we noticed they had 10/12 dollar specials at lunchtime which were great.

“Poor pub meal at best”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

Had lunch 7/07/2012 and was extremely disappointed with our meals. The potato mash tasted old and was lumpy and tasted like it was mashed with water and the vegetables consisted of diced mushrooms, eggplant, capsicum and maybe sundried tomatoes, but was very acid and tasted disgusting. I would not bother going back again as I felt quite ill after leaving.

My husband sometimes have dinner here when in Caloundra and have always found it to be very good. The seafood is delicious and the service is excellent. Highly recommend the place.

“Ten out of ten”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012

We wanted to be seated near the breeze which was no problem, the lovely lady set the table with a smile and made us feel comfortable from the get go.

Service was prompt and friendly, our request to let the kids split a rack of ribs was accommodated without any fuss or quizical looks which is a refreshing change in an otherwise declining industry in which standards of service are dropping all too fast.

But not here, we couldn't have been happier.

The meal was exceptional the ribs were tender and tasty, the lamb shanks were first class with generous portions and the salt and pepper calamari was tasty, but let me tell you that the salad on the side was one of the best salads we've ever tasted, it was toasted macadamia nuts with coconut and fresh vibrant salad vegetables.

I really enjoyed the bruschetta which was again a generous portion and the cobb loaf lasted less than a minute on our table as the fresh yeasty smell lead to it being devoured by watering mouths.

Well done staff, you ticked all the boxes
