We are locals on the Sunshine Coast and will not be returning to Saltwater. We visited Saltwater for Breakfast and we were very disappointed. We asked for coffees and paid the extra to be served in mugs which didn't happen and the coffee was cold. We asked for hard eggs with our breakfasts and this was ignored. We were sat outside in the boiling sun with no shade with two small children and had to ask to be moved which could not be done so they brought over a shade umbrella which sort of did the job. Really overpriced for what you get on your plate. The new cafe next door looked much better with the meals more generous and the price more affordable. Don't waste your time and maybe walk around to Bulcock Beach for better cafe's.

No better place to spend a quiet afternoon with friends. Right on the beach and plenty of people watching to enjoy. Wide range of options on the menu with small and large meals available. Small but reasonable wine list and byo (corkage $8 a bottle). Service friendly and helpful. Meals were a little disapointing eg lasagne neither hot nor cold?

From looking at the fantastic sounding menu I was looking forward to trying the food. We happened to be going on a Wednesday where the menu states one free meal with each main meal orderd, the menu has 2 choices ,1 being something to share and the other being something bigger. We ordered 2 something to share and 1 something bigger, when the bill came we were charged 3 meals.(2 something to share ,is worth more than 1 main meal) so they would be better off. I asked why we have not received 1 free meal (thinking maybe 1 something to share would be the free meal)and was told we had to order 2 main meals, if this was explained better that something bigger is the main meal I would have ordered this, we ended up spending an extra $30.00 on a technicality. Food was just ok, scallop and scnapper chowder came out with prawns instead of scnapper and no explanation, way too much cream. It unfortunately was cream soup with prawns and scallops.Squid was not nice and pasta was cream overload. On the positive side the lovely waitress who turned 27 on the 15 of July was amazing, she went out of her way and her service was fabulous, let's fill Australian restaurants with people like this (awesome). Tip would be lovely place beautiful spot but employ a chef instead of a cook. Menu reads far better than the reality.

OK - first of all I didn't give this an excellent because I got the smallest glass of wine for $9.00 that I have ever seen and that is where my complaints start and end!
The calamari entrée was so melt in you mouth it was to die for - the best I have tried for ages.
We have followed this up with the fillet steak on a mash that I would love the recipe for, just perfect and unfortunately we couldn't fit in desert but will next time I am sure, we will make it fit! Mouth is watering to try the gooey chocolate pudding ........ Sally has the always had superb restaurants and a good following and Saltwater at Kings is no exception - we will return.......
