After reading the below review I was surprised and can tell you first hand don’t believe all you read!! After staying at Gemini Resort a few weeks ago my husband & I had the best holiday. We arrived at 10.30am after having an early flight from Melbourne and phoned Gemini Resort to see if we could leave our bags some where and was told our room was ready and could check in early and with no extra charge.
Our apartment was perfect (unit 45) it spacious and had real beach theme, it was the best feeling in the world to wake up every morning looking at the ocean with the sun rising over it. We never wanted to leave!
Every time we went passed reception the girls were happy and always up for a chat and recommend what we must see and do as we had never been to Sunshine Coast before.
Overall a relaxing stay, great views of the ocean, spacious clean apartment, and easy access to everything. Would definitely recommend this Resort to others – We loved it and will be back.

I had a terrible experience with the *NEW* management who have taken over since September 2010. My family booked our trip for Jan 2011 back in Aug 2010 with some relatives who also booked their trip for the same time. Due to the Qld floods we both decided to cancel. A few weeks before we were due to arrive, I phoned to find out what the cancellation policy was. I was told by the staff memeber who answered the phone that so long as we gave over 7 days notice, we would forefeit $100. The following day our relatives cancelled and got their full payment back (less $100). The following week when I called to cancel (which was still greater than 7 days notice) I was told that I would lose my full $300 deposit. After explaining that this is what I had been told and had confirmed 3 times within the one conversation, the lady now told me that they were the rules and pretty much 'bad luck' after which she hung up on me.

They were actually quite rude and completely showed no compassion - it was an error made from their end. In fact they actually accused me of lying and claiming I never spoke to anyone there, even though I had the name of the lady I spoke to. I was told they would investigate and call me back. I had cancelled my flights based on the information I was given and would be out of pocket a further $340 to rebook my flights. I never heard back from them and had to follow them up.

I was then told that when our relatives cancelled, that the resort had made an error from their end and should not have kept only $100 but should have kept $300 deposit. When I told them that this same person who processed this refund is the person who most probably gave me the incorrect information, they would not have a barr of it - their mistake but they are not willing to compensate me or even hear me out. Had I been given the correct information from the beginning, I would have been more than happy to lose my deposit . After all that, I eventually ended up getting an email from the manager/owner who claimed that the matter was closed even thouh I asked him to meet me half way. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, ESPECIALLY THAT THEY WERE NEW OWNERS....LOST MY REPEAT BUSINESS FOR GOOD!!!!

WATCH OUT - THEY'RE QUICK TO TAKE YOUR $$$ BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING HUMAN ERRORS WHICH WE ALL DO, THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY!!!!

This woman was not cancelling due to the floods because they had not yet happened when she cancelled. She cancelled because she did not want to come on holiday in the rain as it happens her booking from 10/01-20/01 would have been excellent weather. She was told that cancelling so late she would forfeit her deposit and she was very rude and unpleasant because she thought it was unreasonable to loose all her deposit even though it was only 9 days before her stay. She constantly telephoned and harassed all the staff and so eventually we put the phone down as she was so rude. All high season bookings give a $300 deposit and this is very normal. There would be no point in taking a booking deposit and then just giving them back to anyone who cancelled at any time. She also did not care that the owner of the unit would loose their income and for ten days high season that owner was loosing around $2200. Anyone who had to cancel due to the floods has not lost any of their deposit money.

I have been staying at the Gemini Resort every August for the last 6 years. We started coming for 7 nights, then 10 nights and our last trip was for 12 nights. It never seems long enough. We always stay on one of the highest floors and the views are just stunning whether it is day time with all the ships going past or the view of Caloundra lit up by lights at night. Our room is more than large enough for 2 people with a separate bedroom, laundry and bathroom. The full kitchen is modern with everything you could need if you decide to cook, the lounge is a large L shape that we can both stretch out on with a dvd player and the resort also offers movies thoughout the day. The balcony is huge with a sun lounge and table for 4. It can be accessed by the 2 large sliding doors both in the lounge and the bedroom. The room has air conditioning but rarely need to use it as a beautiful breeze usually blows through although sometimes in August it can get a little cool at night and need to use the heater. There are only 4 rooms to a floor with lift access to all floors. The resort is only a minute walk to golden beach shopping centre which has everything you could need including a number of restaurants and eateries, (which are fantastic), small supermarket, bakery, butcher, chemist, liquor shop to name a few. It is only about a 15-20 minute walk along the wide beautiful walkway into Caloundra which is great to do on a Sunday when they have the markets down the main street. The walkway goes for km's in both directions along the coast and is a wonderful way to start the day. The pool is heated and a reasonale size with both an outdoor and indoor spa available along with a sauna. The reception area is bright and cheery which also has 2 computers available to access the internet. The secure undercover parking is very good and haven't noticed any really unpleasant smell. The Gemini Resort is quiet (in August anyway) and relaxing with very little traffic at night and a pleaure to come to. I would never look at staying anywhere else for my yearly trip to Caloundra and always look forward to coming back.

We have stayed at Gemini a number of times over the years and have seen the apartments get renovated and get better and better. Although, you can tell that the buildings are getting quite old. We usually stay in the Family units. The units have a very large open living/kitchen area with a big space for a large dining table and a lovely patio overlooking Pumicestone Passage. The kitchen has all the usual things a unit has - dishwasher, large fridge, good bench and cupboard space. The Family unit says it has 3 bedrooms, but I have to say that I don't consider a little alcove with either no/or louvred doors stuffed with two singles or one single or no beds etc, to be classified as a third bedroom. I would recommend calling to make sure you get the bedding configuration you need. We need four singles, so I make sure that is what I get. Also the apartments have air-conditioning, but it comes from one unit in the kitchen area. Our bedrooms did not get cool enough to be comfortable. The main bedroom is smallish, with a tiny en-suite, however it overlooks the water. The furnishings, fixtures and fittings are a little bit dated, but I think we prefer something that isn't too precious and high maintenance, especially when you have wet kids and lots of sand! There is a couple of minutes walk to the little shops of Golden Beach, great for the paper in the morning and anything we always seem to forget when packing. There is also a park with a playground right next door and it is right next to the water. The pool is excellent for big and little kids and has a little slide (I think my kids are too big for it now) and a spa. I always try to get the south building, as the noise from the pool can be a bit much sometimes. I agree with others that, although it doesn't really matter, the smell in the carpark can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. All up, we love coming to Golden Beach several times a year, and we prefer to stay at Gemini.

My partner and i stayed here in the chilly month of June. Our apartment was extrememly comfortable; clean, modern, and extremely spacious. The staff were incredibly friendly, and despite the time of year we were surprised how many people still used the lovely pool! It is completely beachfront, and we stayed on one of the top floors, the views were AMAZING. Prices are also so reasonable, will stay here again definately.

We chose the Gemini Resort for a weekend stay to visit Australia Zoo. The Gemini offered a 1-day Family-of-5 Pass to the zoo which was fantastic. We stayed in the South Tower on the 9th floor which had quite good views of the Glasshouse mountains and the ocean. Our apartment had 3 bedrooms; the main had a double bed and ensuite and the other two accomodated 2 single beds. A fully-equipped kitchen, dining table and lounge area occupied the main living space.

Pros
- Fast Check-in
- Conveniently located with shops (Including an IGA store) and take-away options (We particularly enjoyed the Chinese take-out) within walking distance
- Large heated pool, spa
- Secure parking facilities
- Friendly staff
- Only a short drive (approx. 15-20 mins) to the Zoo

Cons
- Outdated furnishings
- A little noisy at night.
- There are only enough toiletries (ie. soaps and toilet paper) supplied for 1-2 nights. If you are planning to stay for longer you have to buy your own.

Overall, the Gemini is a good resort for a weekend stay at the Sunshine Coast

Myselft, my husband and my two young children stayed at the Gemini Resort for 12 days recently. We were extremely impressed by the fabulous location and spectacular views. Our apartment was very well looked after and the cleanliness was of a five star standard. We found the staff to be most friendly and helpful.

We would definately recommend the Gemini Resort to our family and friends.
