“Why would you ever stay in a motel?”
Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

I expect this will be our first stay of many, provided we can make bookings when we need. Joy and Damien have a lovely set up. Our rainforest room is large and well appointed with sparkling new en suite. Looks out into the forest with plenty of bird life to wake up to. Next door is a huge common room shared with the other two rooms. There is continuously available tea and coffee, juices, fresh fruit and maybe something fresh baked. We didn't stay for breakfast this time but the other guests told us that it is fantastic, apparently Joy's fresh baked sourdough is very special. The common room has dining table, guest fridge, kitchenette with microwave, lounges, tv, videos, games etc and is nice and airey. The only minor annoyances are the polished floors throughout allow a bit of noise from the common room to leak into the bedroom and the drain from the kitchenette created an occasional noisy moment in the en suite. But if you can over-look those features I'd rate Ashdon House as perfect. We'll only be looking at anywhere else in South West Rocks if Ashdon House is booked out.

A beautiful place, lovely people, a great breakfast! We only spent a night but want to see more of Hat Head National park and will definitely book Ashdon next time.
We were lucky enough to visit during the whale migration season and saw many passing by.

We went to Arakoon for a weekend get away and had a wonderful time at Ashdon B&B. The accomodation is spotlessly clean, the bed very comfortable, the location very peaceful. It has all you need to make yourselves feel at home, including a plentiful supply of tea and delicious home made cakes. The breakfasts are delicious, with warm home made bread, a good variety of fresh fruit (especially the home grown rhubarb) and perfectly scrambled eggs. Joy and Damien are very friendly and excellent hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We even managed to catch some fish with the benefit of Damien's expert help (something we have failed at dismally for some time now). We have stayed in a lot of B&Bs around the world and this is one of the best we have stayed in. We certainly plan to return and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks Joy and Damien.

We cannot rate this B&B highly enough. What an amazing experience. Joy's communication leading up to our trip was superb. I wasn't quite sure how it would work out as there was 6 of us visiting but Joy and Damian really opened up their entire home to us. We had a beautiful breakfast each day and there was always some little homemade treat waiting for us. Amazing!! They shared produce from their garden, took us to all the local hotspots and were just great company. We really got more than we bargained for when we stayed here. I have never come across such welcoming, generous hosts who really live life to the full and want others to share in this. We will definitely be back. Arakoon is such a beautiful spot, if you are a surfer or like the water, fishing, walking or hiking it is full of fantastic places to go. Thank you Joy and Damian for giving us so much of your time and giving us a wonderful family experience that I am sure Yan's parent will treasure forever. And we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Sharon & Yan.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful but there is one room with an en-suite which is just super.

Unbelievable, new and tranquil setting was more than we had expected. Plenty of room and would not have known there was anyone else around us, so quiet and relaxing. Joy will do anything to ensure you have the perfect stay and the finer touches was appreciated. Great new b&b, I look forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Recommend a stay in the ensuite but oceans room was perfect.
