A very interesting place worth checking out if in the area to really show you some early history of australia and really learn of what it was like to be here and imagine the toughness of men in early civilazation over a century ago and what they endured for there crimes in that early part of austrlian history..

So much history to see and reading material and video information all around the gaol to help vistors get a real insight on the certain location of what part you are visiting at the time

Theres is a souvineer shop selling a range of things from your visit also theres a machine inside if you carry a $2 dollar coin to get a souvineer stamp forged in the machine with 4 to choose from located in the video room (turn right when you walk in)

Prices were $30 for two adults and two kids

The Trial Bay Gaol requires a small entry fee to get upclose and personal with history. Its in good (restored) condition with a few kangaroos calling it home

The area itself has a camping grounds around the point, which are as appealing a spot as any you can imagine.

Our first adventure today was through the Trial Bay Gaol. A gaol that for its time period was a place of reform and meaningful work to do! The prison inmates were tasked with the job of building the 1500m break wall however, they only got 220m into it before the project was stopped and instead the inmates were skilled up in trades, including blacksmith and barbering. However, it's second lot of inmates were Australian born German descendants whose only crime was that they were German descendants are were accused of being spys for Germany. They were all sentenced to live out their days in the prison however, resigned to their fate they set up halls, dancing nights, social events and a hospital, and whole families lived together in relative peace, albeit as prisoners. Today, it is a tourist attraction only but depicts a pleasant gaol, the kind I'd like you be in if I ever was incarcerated. One with limited cruel treatment, despite the time period, and happy prisoners who were given a meaningful purpose in life. I highly highly recommend this!!! It doesn't take too long and is an important part of the history of the area.

This glimpse back in history shone a light on the positive aspects of prison life in trial bay. Our little one loved the open space and interactive displays, they learnt a lot about the history of the goal, I marvelled at the beauty of the building, and Jack appreciated the workmen ship that went into construction in the location. Everyone found something to love about the goal ruins. Recommended!

We only had limited time to look at the gaol and didn't get a chance to do a tour. Will have to do that on our next visit.
