Stayed for 2 nights recently. Location was perfect in a quiet street but close to bus and shops. Room was small & comfortable, suitable for my needs as I was out for most of the day. Bathroom very small and outdated but again was suitable. Nice open window onto side street. Close to lots of restaurants in Avoca Street & Alison Road. Would stay again.

I love this place. Whenever I can't stay at a friends place when I fly down from Brisbane I always stay here. I used to live in Randwick so this is the closest I can stay to my old home. It's cosy and warm. Great value...love it.

Room Tip: If you are single the single rooms are still very spacious.

We chose this place to stay because it was close to Randwick racecourse. Buses are not too far away to catch to get to the racecourse.
The room was spacious and comfortable, as was the bed. The fan and open windows made the room quite cool for sleeping.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have windows opening onto the grounds, so are not safe from intrusion, but...

First the welcome was not nice with kids, as though we disturbed the receptionist. She paid directly using the cerdit card without warning since we booked on booking.com. On check out I told her to warn people as they are free to decide how to pay. She wasnt helpful on check out... once one hour drive from place she hung up 4 times for the invoice (she gave on my request and not automatically aftercharging me...) was unclear... I Vcamed this with my ozzie friend shocked by her attitude right from beginning. My room was small, the soap holder broken, room giving onto a busy street with people shouting during the night. Took 30 min walk with kids to Coogee beach. The environment and architecture of lodge is great but such receptionists spoil the stay, to sum up I paid stress and no calm, plus rude behaviour.... another receptionist, comprehensive, cooperative, and asking you the mode of payment on check out would suit the place and would deserve its place there...

Quiet and comfortable. Off street parking available and close to Randwick and public transport. Kitchenette in room and communal kitchen available. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Ceiling fan in room but no air conditioning - was fine when we were there but I would ask for a room downstairs in really hot weather.

Staff was really nice. We arrived at midnight and were afraid about check in, but we found our key at reception desk in an envelope. Hotel is old but clean, even though they don't clean every day. Area is quite. It was nice hotel but because of the area we probably wouldn't choose it again.

Area is way too quite because you are in the middle of Randwick residential area. For many travelers it can be ok, but for us it wasn't. Everything looks alike and it was difficult to find hotel and streets with right bus stops. You are still walking up and down because its in a hills and in 30C it's a hell. Traveling to downtown wasn't very convenient. You need at least 25-40 to get to there in the morning. Bondi Junction is pretty far but you can go there by bus and then use metro.
