You get what you paid for.

Rated 3 for the sleep quality because we stayed in the 'discount room' on the bottom level. It was fine for us as we were out all day. But if you need a sleep in, this room choice isn't for you, a bit noisy as it's next to the kitchen.

Staff were great and freindly. Went above and beyond with our questions.

The room was clean, beds were comfy, everything in working order

Thank you for taking the time to review us here on TripAdvisor.com

We're really glad you enjoyed your stay. We pride ourselves on our unparalleled standard of quality customer service, I'm happy you experienced this. Of course you are quite right, our Double Rooms and King Rooms tend to be a tad quieter than our Lower Ground Savers, however it sounds like you still very much enjoyed the great value of the Lower Ground Saver.

We hope to see you again in the near future.

As I was at UNSW for an evening meeting this Lodge suited my needs. I only got into my double bed room at 10pm, (easy after hours access) and left at 10am the next morning after having a fabulous breakfast at the little cafe right at the entrance called Kikcoro.
The bed took up the whole room and there were tea making facilities, a small tv and separate small bathroom with excellent shower. All immaculately clean and quiet as I was at the back and not street facing which could be a bit noisy. Reception was very friendly and informative, and they do offer an apartment for 4 but it looked dark.

Would I return? If I'd exhasted all other options only, as I would prefer more space. I only had an overnight bag so forget about a regular 20kg travel suitcase and 2 people in there!
Parking is available but also on the streets around and the area is quite safe.

Thank you very much for providing your valuable feedback.

It's great to hear you enjoyed your one night stay at Perouse Lodge, and you're right, the cafe opposite the lobby really is something.

Of course we do offer larger rooms such as the King Room or 1 Bedroom Apartment that you have mentioned, I do apologise if these were unavailable when you booked, they tend to be very popular. We're happy to hear you thought the location was convenient, it is very close to UNSW and the Prince of Wales Hospital and most people find this very handy when visiting Perouse Lodge.

Thank you again for your kind comments.

Stayed 7 nights for Orientation Wk at UNSW. This and other Sydney Lodges (Randwick & High Cross) situated near junction of Coogee Beach Rd & Perouse Rd are close to UNSW, shopping centres (Coles & Woolworth) & various restaurants including those at "The Spot". Lots of buses to Sydney City (~30 mins). Not hotel so don't get daily cleaning; towels changed every 2 days, small rooms (though 1st night was spent in larger room). We had to sit on the bed to do our Internet browsing. En suite toilet and shower is small. I'm small frame and already find bathroom crammed. Room not cleaned daily so dusty surfaces are expected. 1st night - the TV remote was coated with dust. 2nd room also dusty. 'Broadband' WiFi available at A$5/hr or A$10/day or A$50/wk. I got av speed of 1Mbps so have to reload pages frequently. Good coffee (half cup otherwise coffee too diluted) & tea with milk provided. Little variety on the cable TV though many channels avail - any repeat channels. >A$100/night - I expected a little more service. Reception staff are helpful and courteous. If you want to be close to UNSW and its lodgings, Sydney lodges are good choices. Otherwise stay with an expectation of not staying in a hotel. More like staying at home - DIY cleaning, laundry (wash machines and dryers avail in basement) and cooking also at basement. Reception closed by 7pm and need room keys to open lodge entrances.

Thank you very much for leaving your comments and feedback.

We're very happy to hear you enjoyed the convenient location of Perouse Lodge. It really is in a very central spot in Randwick, we are glad you experienced this.

I'm concerned that you have mentioned the rooms were dusty. Perouse Lodge is very popular and is booked out nearly every night of the week, so the rooms are never without cleaning at least every 2 days, I'm surprised to hear there was still a dust issue. I have passed your comments on to the housekeeping manager to investigate this. We take room cleanliness very seriously.

Of course we do have some larger King Rooms than the room you had booked, which are more spacious and only a small amount more per night than the Double Rooms.

We thank you again for leaving your comments and hope to see you again soon.

I don't know what people expect for AUD113 a night but we got a small double room with fridge, TV and decent bathroom. Everything worked. Internet at AUD10/night was fine. The adjoining coffee shop was great and there are shops/restaurants everywhere. Buses to Coogee/Bondi/City Centre stop right outside. Would definitely stay there again.

We booked via computer with a well known firm and the photos and information supplied on line where surely another hotel!!. The Lodge is very old, grotty and cramped. The receptionist continued talking to a friend on phone while we waited and had to asked her to cease! The room was that small we could not put our 2 cases on the floor. The carpet was old and worn and had dirty marks all over it. The room smelt awful- musty and old. I am not a big build person and anyone above average would never turn around in the bathroom. No hair dryer. The cups supplied were cracked and full of dust.
The bed smack against the wardrobe- which you couldn't have used. Awful place and we
checked out next day( had booked 4 nights) after an arguement with the online booking company. Should be knocked down...shame it's s perfect location- bus out front ,beach 5 mins etc.

Thank you very much for your comments and feedback. They're very important to us, so we can continue to improve ourselves

Well, your experience sounds just terrible. I'm very surprised to see such a negative review as most people absolutely love Perouse Lodge. Of course, we're not a 5 Star hotel, but we don't claim to be, that's not our goal. Our goal is to provide convenient, affordable and very clean accommodation in Sydney at unparalleled rates. As I read further into your comments I'm concerned that you possible should have booked at a 5 Star hotel in the city to meet your expectations and needs.

While we are a budget accommodation facility, we take cleanliness and hygiene very seriously. I have passed your comments about the carpet on to the maintenance manager to have this looked at, the carpet may need replacing in this particular room. As for the smell, I have personally checked the room and if there was indeed a problem, it appears to to have self corrected by the time I had checked. The crockery in the room most certainly should have been cleaned, I have passed this comment on to the housekeeping manager, I'm sorry about this.

I'm very sad to hear you think our great property should be knocked down. I think you'd find quite a few people here on Trip Advisor who would be a little sad to see us go.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Location and the cleanness of the hotel is excellent. Bathroom had few problems; soap holder was broken and it was hard to close the shower screen door properly. We stayed two nights. Due to room availability, we had to move to a different room on the second day. The move was not handled conveniently. The room to be moved should have been cleaned first and then we would have been asked to move. Instead, we had to check out from the first room at 10:00 AM leaving all out bags at the office and come back and check in to the new room later. This move should have been organized without causing inconvenience to the client.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review us here on TripAdvisor.

We're glad you thought the location of Perouse Lodge was convenient, and we are very proud of our room cleanliness standards, we're glad you noticed.

I do apologise for the soap holder and shower door issues in your room, thank you for letting us know as we were able to fix these efficiently.

Unfortunately when you extend a booking without notice, sometimes we have limited options for you as our lodge can be very heavily booked when trying to extent at the last minute. In this particular situation we were booked out so we had to have you check-out and check back in again to facilitate your last minute booking extension. Of course, if your booking was made in advance then a room move would not even be required during your stay. It's just one of those things about last minute travel that makes it very hard for hotels to accommodate late changed. We did our best.

Thank you again for your comments. We hope to see you again soon.

We were looking for a place to stay in Randwick, which I knew nothing about and wasn't expecting much. We arrived during the day, parking was limited to the street and wasn't easy to find. The lady at the front desk was mildly friendly, although very unknowledgeable about anything in the area or in general. Since there was nothing else available when we booked the room, we booked a 1 bedroom apt. for a what I'm hoping was a steeper than usual weekend rate. The room however was clean, with modern amenities. We were both pleasantly surprised and happy. The surrounding area happened to be quite nice, the Hotel is located in a great area, close to great restaurants, on the bus line, and 15 minute walk from the beaches. However overpriced, this is a no frills, good hotel in a good area. Oh and a nice cafe next door, and a pub on the other side, you're set.

Thank you very much for providing your feedback.

We're happy we were able to satisfy your accommodation needs. Of course, our 1 Bedroom Apartments are the most expensive room as they are our most premium room type, there are some less expensive options such as the King Rooms or Double Rooms. I do hope you will try one of these room types on your next visit if keeping in budget is important for you.

We're glad you enjoyed the convenient location of Perouse Lodge.

Thank you for leaving your comments. We hope to see you again someday.
