“Friendly staff. Good location. Clean, if basic rooms”
Reviewed April 18, 2011

I stayed here overnight with my father while my mother was in the nearby hospital. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Our room was a twin room - 2 single beds, small sofa, table with 2 chairs, microwave/kettle/small fridge.

The hotel is close (walking distance) to the Macquarie Shopping Centre and is in the grounds of the University. It was a 2 minute walk to the Macquarie University Hospital and Medical Centre. There are many public transport options with a train station close by and buses readily available at the Shopping Centre/University.

Parking was $5 per day and they were kind enough to let us leave our car there while we visited at the hospital for the day (hospital parking was approx $20 per day).

This hotel was very convenient and we certainly could not fault the service we received.

We chose this hotel for it's proximity to MGSM. It was very clean, tidy, and the rooms are a good size. Wireless internet in the rooms was also a plus (you would be surprised how many 'business' hotels don't have this available). Good proximity to the Macquarie Centre too.

Be aware that there are very few restaurants in this area. We stayed on business for three nights, and ate at the shopping centre for two of them... The breakfast served in the hotel is decidedly average but a fair price ($18) for a hotel buffet breakfast.

The only downside is that my room wasn't cleaned each day - towels were replaced and the bed was made, but the handbasin and shower wasn't wiped down. Digital clocks in the rooms would also be useful.

I've stayed here twice and both times the service and amenities have been fine for a business-orientated stay. The staff are helpful and proactive no matter what the hour (24/7 hour service), the room was clean and comfortable with a flat screen TV, microwave, bar fridge and net access (although $20 for 24 hours). My only negative comment is that the chairs in the room were quite uncomfortable and not that geared towards study or work.
I was located above the outside eating area and it was quite noisy so I called reception at 11pm to ask how long the party/gathering would go on. Within 15 minutes the place was quiet - no idea if staff had asked the party to move on or if it was simply coincidence however the silence was appreciated.
I spoke to 4 difference staff members throughout my stay - each was as helpful as the last and no request is any drama for them. Would definately recommend this for a business stay.

Clean hotel, friendly staff and nice rooms. I opted for the $15 breakfast and was happy with the selection (try the fresh pancake maker).

So North Ryde isn't in the city, but there is a decnet sized shopping centre with a great food court about 5mins walk away. Also the trains are very close so transport isn't an issue.

One thing I will say, is from what I can tell, this is a frequently visited hotel by coaching tours. So just be prepared for that and you will be fine.

The staff were very service oriented, friendly and proactive. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Not a fancy place/full service hotel, but everything is quite good. The breakfasts are fine, and again the service is terrific.

I stayed here a lot during August because of the proximity to work. It’s close to the shopping centre, buses and the train station. The rooms are basic ie. Queen size beds, shower only, microwave, bar fridge, 2 seater couch, small table. But the rooms were always clean.
They do breakfast in the eating area and can provide frozen meals, which are quite nice!
Not much noise apart from the usual hallway noise.
Tips for booking, ask to be in a room that isn’t facing the main entrance or directly above the eating area. There were a couple of nights when other guests were sitting outside the eating area talking until late at night. I did have one night were some guests obviously didn’t believe that non-smoking actually means non-smoking, that wasn’t a very good sleep!
For the price and compared to the other places I’ve stayed in the area you really can’t go wrong.

I arrived late at mid night and didnt have a booking. The lady on reception was very nice and booked me in right away and allowed me to leave my car at the front as I was so late. The rate was $85 which I thought was good for a Saturday night. The hotel was quiet, The lady advised me that they get busy during the week with corporate customers but the weekends are fairly quiet.
The room was clean although basic which is what I expect from this kind of chain. It was comfortable and had a microwave and small kitchen area and LCD TV.
It was not top notch luxury but was great for what I needed and is not too far from Sydney if you drive and the rail station is now operational and is a 10 min walk.
All in all it was good value.
