Owner description: The award winning Lismore Visitor Information Centre is much more than a visitor centre - it's an experience! Our aim is to be a link between visitors and the rich source of environmental, cultural and economic resources in Lismore, Nimbin and surrounding villages. As Lismore is on the doorstep to Nightcap National Park, the centre features an indoor rainforest, designed to give visitors a taste of what they can experinece in the region. We have an Aboriginal Art Gallery, which provides local Northern Rivers Indigenous artists the opportunity to promote their artwork and offers visitors to Lismore an opportunity to learn about the area they are visiting through some of the local Aboriginal art. We have a large retail section specialising in unique, locally made arts, crafts and produce. There is an array of sumptuous gift baskets which you can buy pre-made or have one made-to-order. The Lismore Visitor Information Centre is Open 7 days a week from 9.30am to 4pm.

“Incredibly helpful!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

There had recently been a mishap with my business listing in the Visit Lismore directory (visitlismore.com.au). When I contacted the Visitor Information Centre (who manage the website), the staff who responded were incredibly helpful, followed up on my request, and updated my listing for me. I really appreciated the assistance, and can only imagine that visitors to Lismore would get the same friendly and helpful service. Highly recommended!

“Lovely little visitor centre.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The staff are friendly and helpful. The centre features an indoor rainforest with a waterfall, videos and models of native flora and fauna and displays telling the story of the sometimes controversial history of some of the rainforest areas. The centre has an extensive range of local arts, crafts and produce and is committed to supporting the local producers in the Northern Rivers Region

“Friendly faces of the Northern Rivers”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Most staffers are volunteers and are always ready with great info about the local area. Visits are always full of laughs too! There is a large range of local produce and hand crafted gifts that are a leap above the usual tacky souvenirs gathering dust in most visitor centres.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

I say disappointed because we didn't get to go there. They had the "Gone to Lunch back in 30mins" sign out. Well we waited for 30mins and they still didn't open. We understand that they probably are understaffed and have to have lunch, but if they could put a time they are due back would be helpful. I understand that the Tourist Information Centres are struggling because of the internet etc. well this isn't going to help.

Dear Leith P,
Thank you for your feedback about Lismore Visitor Information Centre. We apologise that the centre was closed for lunch when you visited. We are open every day of the year except Christmas Day. On rare occasions we are required to close for half an hour for lunch. Generally a sign is left stating the time that a staff member will return.
Your feedback has given us the opportunity to refresh all staff on this policy, so that this will not happen again.
Hopefully you will get the opportunity to visit us again and enjoy the Rainforest Walk, Aboriginal Gallery and interpretive signage, which celebrates the culture and history of the Northern Rivers and enjoy the friendly, informative service that our staff prides themselves on.
Regards,
Lismore Visitor Centre Management.
