“Great value, great experience”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We stayed here on a Sunday night and as a result we were able to get a very good price on a room which also included a buffet breakfast. In fact I don't think you could go past the place at the price as it represented great value. The rooms are very stylish, with the exception of the bathroom, which needs an upgrade. The surrounds are very good with lovely gardens, guest rooms, pool etc. It is very quiet and isolated which is good until you have to go into Leura to have a meal. The entire Blue Mountains area seems geared towards the weekend trade and a lot of restuarants etc (including the one here) are not open on Sunday nights. This is not an issue if you have a car and a designated driver, but you can't for example, take a short stroll into town. This didn't affect us but it could be an issue for some people. You will also need to drive to get to all of the attractions. Overall though, I would recommend this place, particularly if you can get a good price.

Room Tip: Great prices available on Sunday nights.

The Waldorf is in a beautiful location - a stones throw from the Everglades Gardens in a lovely quiet street in Leura. The staff were great , very helpful and pleasant. We were two couples travelling and had a wotif deal and got the two resort rooms at half price. The rooms were very good, comfy beds, nice furnishings and great utilities. I would rate the rooms a 4 out of 5 however the bathrooms were very tired and in great need of refurbishment. The tiles were shabby, our shower door needed replacing - it didn't close properly so the bath mat was wet before you stepped out. The toilet bowl was very badly waterstained which was not a good look! The bathrooms I would rate at 2 out of 5, it was a shame as it really was a contrast to the state of the room. The breakfast was great - we had a late breakfast so the rush was over but I was surprised at the small size of the breakfast room considering the large amount of people the resort accomodates. I would stay again for the same price but wouldn't have been happy had we paid the full rate. If they fixed the bathrooms that would make a huge difference.

My mother celebrated her 90th birthday in August 2012 and we chose to attend the "Faulty Tales Yulefest Dinner" at the Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort. We had 20 friends and family as guests from as far away as Perth who attended and they all enjoyed the meal and the entertainment. The actors were first class and made the evening very memorable. We also met up with one of the very friendly staff who had spoken with us on a previous trip when we stayed at the Waldorf and it was a nice surprise that she remembered us. The restaurant was fully booked and everyone had a great time.
The only recommendation for consideration in improving the event would be to manage the rush to the bar at the commencement of the evening. There were some considerably long wait times to get served - but only because everyone arrived all at once. The Fawlty team did provide entertainment at this time - and I think one of the younger members of our group was thrown out by Basil who advised her that "McDonalds was up the road". They let her back in later! I would suggest someone should take the drink orders as guests arrive - number the orders and provide a receipt to the guests; let the barman set them up and serve them when ready. This would allow all guests to mingle rather than clutter around the bar. Alternatively, this could be woven into the Fawlty experience - with Basil at the bar supervising. Once all were served with drinks we settled in for a wonderful evening.
Thankyou to the staff and the performers. Highly recommended to all.

We were booked in here for a girls weekend and while the rooms were adequate and warm, we did not expect to have to line up in the cold for breakfast. The hotel's breakfast room is too small and we were stuck outside in the cold for about 15 minutes.

We spent a nice weekend in the Leura Gardens motel in July.it was a unique experience in a very nice Blue Mountains location with nice gardens and very pleasant hospitality team.our accommodation was older style unit but very clean ,well looked after and with good heating and bedding. We were allowed to bring Gassy our dog and had a great garden yard unit on the ground floor. We enjoyed the Faulty Tower show and were satisfied with the breakfast service and the dinner at night.A good value and quality as well as very friendly service.

I stayed here in early June 2012 with some work colleagues as part of a conference at the nearby Fairmont Resort. The room was comfortable - the bed was good and the room was spacious. However, the bathroom was quite dated and really needs to be brought into the 21st century - the bathroom window, which needs to be open a little for ventilation, faces the car park and means your neighbours walk by whilst you're showering.

I stayed in one of the deluxe rooms (106 if I remember). However, my colleagues stayed further up towards the main reception and all were a little disappointed in their accommodation.

The parking is limited, particularly if you are staying over a weekend. So, you can be a long way from your room if you've gone out one night - not a major issue, unless you are dressed for a function and it is raining. Not only can you get wet, but the driveway can be slippery to walk on.

The buffet breakfast was good - a reasonable selection of most things that were hot and fresh.

Of most of the staff we came into contact with, I'd say there is a bit of disinterest in what they're doing. If you're going to work in tourism in the Blue Mountains, I think you need to be a little enthusiastic.

I suppose overall I'd say that Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort is representative of most accommodation that I've stayed in in the Blue Mountains over the years - a little underwhelming, in need of upgrading and resting on its laurels.

Room Tip: Maybe choose an upstairs room - downstairs rooms near the main entrance have little light coming in

We arrived at WARDOLF with our pet only to find out the type of room we booked does by allow pets although we had paid the pet fee as instructed on their website. And no apology was given for the confusion because nothing on their website said anything about this. And it left us concerned what we can do now if the pet can't stay.
Anyway luckily we ended up paying abit extra for the right room which took 2 hours to clean, which is also way pass the 2pm check-in time.
The acoomodation setup is more like a motel style rather than hotel, the room we had was spacious with 1 kind and 1 single, bathroom was ok. The backyard had many rubbish an dog poo probably left by the previous visitor. Gate to the next door backyard is not locking properly. There was heater and electrical blanket in room so it's very warm in a cold area like this. Theres also microwave, water kettle provided which is very handy. The shampoo an body wash products are good with quality and pleasant smell. No Wifi in our room. The bed was quite comfortable. Carpet was in dark red color with patterns so not sure if it was the color, it just looked old and not clean.
However, the breakfast was very good, in fact one of the best. Plenty of Aussie style hot food available and they taste good. Plenty if seats indoor and out.
We have travelled extensively around the
world, for about aud$200a night, it's quite expensive for the room we had. We might pay abit more and stay in LILIANFELS next time, it's very close to a few good lookouts. But if you want to visit Leura, WARDOLF is a good option if your standard is not high.
