“Relaxing retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

Upon arrival we immediately switched on to relax mode. Our family stayed 3 nights in a Fairmont Room which was refreshing, clean and spacious. The resort was well presented and private but only a short drive to the quaint Leura Mall, Katoomba and bush walks etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. We dined in every night, twice at Embers restaurant which had a lovely tranquil atmosphere despite the food being average, although reasonably priced. We were not impressed with the buffet food in Jamison's restaurant for $69 head, it was very ordinary. The kids enjoyed the pool and play room. Overall we had a great time and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Had a great and memorable stay at Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains. Great location, the room is elegant and spacious, big enough to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. It's perfect choice for a family trip. Embers Restaurant serves fantastic food and the service is excellent. They have 2 big pools, indoor pool with warm water and outdoor pool with great view to the lakes. Overall, Fairmont Resort is a luxury hotel which is highly recommended to every body who plan to visit Blue Mountains.

Be under no mistake this hotel is tired and needs attention, the pools have tiles coming off (i found one in the pool) and the gym facilities are old and there is no air conditioning on the gym unless you count the door being left open.
the bedroom is clean and tidy and of a reasonable size as is the bathroom but there was no easy chair despite there being the space available. i always had the image of the fairmont chain being on of the best hotel groups around the world (from experience in Canada/USA) but can honestly say this was just an average.
the buffet breakfast was just ok with no omelette station and a coffee machine dispensing poor coffee. there is a nice verandah to sit on for breakfast but unfortunately there are a few too many flies at present.
to sum up the attitude of the hotel we had an incident with our hire car in the car park and whilst the staff that dealt with us were very helpful and caring i got the impression that the management above them were being deliberately negative and trying not to get involved. (we returned to our car about an hour after registering and the car next to us in the car park had its door open into the side of our vehicle. we found Jess and David from reception and they were very helpful in noting the details and to say they would try and contact the guest involved. Jess tried a number of times to get into contact with the other guests but to no avail by the time she went off duty late that night. In the morning i spoke to Scott another duty manager who said that they don't like to get involved in any car park incidents and was most unhelpful even though he took no interest in the specific circumstances of the case. So although Jess wrote up a report i was told to contact the police to get the details of the other driver and she suggested she was advised not to give me a copy of the report)
Has this incident affected my opinion of the hotel, yes of course but its still an average hotel. if you have kids they will probably love the pools and hot tubs and running around with lots of other kids but if you are a couple don't go.

Dear David,
We very much appreciate the feedback on your stay at Fairmont. The Resort celebrated its 25th anniversay in August last year and we do acknowledge that there are areas which require attention - on the positive side, there are confirmed plans for the upgrade of the pool and gym areas in conjunction with the construction of our new Day Spa facility.
Fairmont Blue Mountains are not part of the Canadian Fairmont Group, but we do aspire to constantly improve our presentation and service. The Jamisons Restaurant and buffet will also be upgraded in February & will include an egg station. I do apologise for the percieved lack of empathy and action in respect to the incident with your hire car in the car park, however by your own account I believe our staff dealt with the matter appropriately. Neither the individuals or the hotel couuld take the matter further.
kind regards

The Fairmont Resort is fantastic and worthy of 5 stars!

Every staff member were happy from check in to checkout and willing to help with any request.

Room service costs are reasonable and food was good quality. The grounds of the property are stunning and secluded and the 2 pools, 2 spa's are fantastic!

We stayed in a Deluxe Room which is well worth the upgrade fee! The room was stunning with a tall wood beam roof (Lodge/Cabin Feel), large comfy chase chair, Nespresso Machine (though no milk warmer *SAD FACE*) and huge king bed with an amazing en-suite inclusive of a huge spa bath!

Overall 10/10 rating and will definitely be spending more time here next time we're in Sydney.

Room Tip: Pay to upgrade to Deluxe Room

Spent 2 nights at the resort in Jan 2014 and had a lovely time. Handy location to Leura & Katoomba townships and has it's own amazing view down the valley. Hotel was well appointed and we decided to eat in the Embers restaurant both nights. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Fairmont Resort for two nights over New Years. The resort itself is nice, a bit outdated but the rooms very very clean and modern. They were quiet and we had two great nights sleep.

The repost was very busy - be prepared for kids to take over the pools and spa, don't go for a romantic getaway. The pond near the pool was very dirty and muddy, needs cleaning. Grounds were really nice.

I have it an Average because of the room service menu - ultra over priced and limited. I ordered the Ceaser salad without the meat and I was shocked at what arrived. It was literally some lettuce, mayo, stale bread and cheese. That for $19! My husband got a steak burger for $18 so I could not believe how little I got for a much smaller meal with no meat. $19 plus $4 service charge for a few bits of lettuce! I complained and to their credit, they took it off the bill but seriously, they should be embarrassed by what they served.

Without that experience I would have given it a higher score but as I said, don't go there for a romantic getaway if that's what you are after.

Room Tip: We stayed in a King Superior which was fine

Dear Tilly,
Thank you for providing feedback on your stay at Fairmont Resort. In August last year Fairmont celebrated its 25th birthday so yes some aspects of design and appearance are dated - we do not an ongoing refurbishent program and the Pool and Spa area will be upgraded during the first quarter of this year. I am disapointed that our Room serive menu did not meet your needs - we will review the menus. School holidays are a favourite family time at Fairmont, but we endeavour at all times to cater for all guests and our future improvements are targetted at this.
kind regards

Had a wonderful time at the fairmont. We had the degustations dinner at the Eucalypt restaurant and the food and wine was awesome, so compliments to the chef! The hotel had gone to a lot of effort, definitely one of our favourite places to visit. Agree that it's a shame the trees can't be trimmed to improve the views.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the rooms with a view
