I'd heard this hotel had a problem last year but thought that it should have been fixed by now. Within days of staying there i had bites all over, then had to get a pest control, out to my house which cost $400 to eliminate possible transfer....DO NOT GO HERE....this place should be shut down & cleaned up

Room Tip: just don't go

Dear MFG71, thank you for your posting. We are surprised by the feedback given the focus we have on housekeeping standards throught out the resort and the improvement plan that is in place. This is also the first instance of such feedback received.
Nevertheless we are concerned with what may have caused your skin reaction and we will make contact with you off line to determine the date and details of your stay.
Regards,

Our stay here was EXACTLY what we needed! We both enjoyed fabulous massages at the spa and we were delighted with the wonderful experience the spa staff gave us. The facility for a couples treatment made for a very enjoyable and relaxing pampering.

But the best part - the incredible Eucalypt Restaurant! I think it was perhaps the best meal we have ever had! The food was exquisite and the service was exceptional. The chef is a genius! It was just an incredible dining experience - so lush!

The bar staff at Embers were also warm, friendly and made Earth Hour a fun evening! In fact, all the staff we encountered throughout the whole resort were charming and welcoming.

We had a perfect weekend and we will definitely be returning as often as we can.

Have alway wanted to stay at the fairmont, foyer was beautiful, log fire bar area was lovely, rooms spacious, although bathroom had a few little items left over from last guest - yuk - not good cleaners, pool area dated but good, lovely indoor pool, area around hotel needs heaps of work, found some run down bbq area - dangerous for kids, heaps of spider webs and weeds growing - need more workers to fix up place, and for $250 a nite - for god sake throw in breakfast for free or a welcome drink while the place is getting fixed, for a sat nite not many guests, throw some specials, food too expensive thankgod for the golf club, although very quiet, food was excellent and staff were excellent, will be going back in a few months to see if any improvements.
Too many people working in front of hotel need more at the back improving maintaining the property, could b a great resort again , at the moment needs more work

Our weekend getaway at the Fairmont was off to a bad start, as it was raining when we set out and kept raining while we were there. Also, due to road works on the Great Western Highway the trip from Sydney took nearly 3 hours instead of the expected 90 minutes. It's something to keep in mind when visiting the resort--the road works are to continue until 2012. Once at the resort we started unwinding. Our room was on the second floor (the first floor was freshly renovated and smelled of paint and we were glad not having been given a room there). It was of a decent size and clean and tidy. The bathroom was a bit compact, but clean and contained everything we needed. Our room had the standard equipment, but for some reason there was no alarm clock. The air-conditioning was set at 11 degrees, so it took a while to warm up after we reset it to a more liveable temperature. We spent the time at the bar which had a log fire going and would normally be a great place to relax and take in the views. Except that there were no views thanks to the rain. The bar's huge windows are in desperate need of being freed of the many cobwebs clinging to them, but apart from this we enjoyed our beer and coffee there. I had toyed with the idea of enjoying a massage or some other kind of treatment, but when I inspected the facilities I found them lacking in ambience. The massage rooms are located more or less directly behind the heated indoor pool which was full of kids, and I didn't think the noise they were making would contribute to a feeling of relaxation a massage is meant to give. So instead I joined the kids in the pool and swam a few laps before immersing myself in the wonderfully warm jacuzzi. While it would have been nice to go for a walk in the resort's surrounds, the resort's many facilities offered other options of entertainment in case of bad weather, such as a billiard room, a library with tables for playing cards or other games, a mini amusement arcade and even a small theatre showing kids-oriented movies in the evening. Since we hadn't made a booking at Eucalypt Restaurant we couldn't get a table there at short notice, and since we didn't feel like a buffet dinner at Jamisons Restaurant we had to make do with dining at Embers Bar, but that was perfectly fine. The food was fresh, tasty and plentiful and the service quick, friendly and professional. Breakfast, on the other hand, leaves room for improvement. There was quite a good and predictable selection of everything, but the eggs came only in scrambled form, and that's not good enough for a resort that aims high. Still, Fairmont is a great place for a Blue Mountains stay, and it will be even better once the renovations are complete.

My wife and I last came to the Fairmont 18mnths ago and swore we'd never come back; I'm so glad we did. What a transformation. The service was fantastic - thank you Andrea. The room while still a little dated was spotless; one whole wing is being completely renovated and refurbished. The outside pool and spa have been redone. The gym is about to have money spent on it. Breakfast was great. The hotel is working really hard at repairing all the damage the York group did. Well done. You've won us back
