Great little Indian, the restaurant itself doesn't have much ambiance, but the food and the staff make up for it!

We are local patrons to the Tamarin and each time we have been, we have enjoyed our dinners immensely. We did notice a slight décor change, the heavy armed chairs were gone, as lovely as they were, and replaced with chairs easier to slip in and out of. We did not realise that the chefs had changed. We had our usual butter chicken, chicken tikka and garlic naan which was fabulous. We will have to try some of the other dishes with the new chefs to make a final decision as to whether or not the quality has dropped. The staff are always friendly and the service is good. Overall, it's one of our favourite places to go in Leura for a flavour sensation.

have eaten here and recommended many times ... however new ownership hasn't meant an improvement but unfortunately the opposite.
Mixed seafood lacking seafood (funny that) .. 3 prawns and rest had the consistency of the sadines i feed my cats. Other dishes were very bland in comparison to the old cooking style ... new "chefs" need to take a few cooking lessons from Danny the previous owner.

Tamarin stacks up to a very good Indian restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and service fantastic. The butter chicken was one of the best I have ever had.We also had the lamb Korma which was good but did not melt in your mouth like the chicken. The beer I had was $8 which I thought was very steep. Overall highly recommend.

We've eaten here before and enjoyed the food, so it was a no-brainier to return for another meal. Or so we thought.

Apparently, the restaurant has changed hands and has a new chef from June 2014, as we were told at the end of our meal when we let the manager know that we were very disappointed with the quality of food.

We asked for the garlic paneer and tandoori chicken as a starter. The paneer was good, generous quantities with a hint of garlic. The tandoori was red on the outside, and dry and bland on the inside. There was no taste to the chicken at all.

For our mains, we ordered two meat dishes from the chef's selection or recommendations section - one beef, the other lamb. Both had coconut milk or cream as an ingredient. The lamb was also supposed to have cashew and other herbs. We also ordered some naans. Both were served with identical looking (and tasting) red/tomato based curry or sauce. There was no hint of coconut, cream, cashew or any other flavour. The beef curry did indeed have chunks of potato so that we could tell them apart. And to make matters worse, the beef was tough, dry and sinewy.

If these are on the list of the chef's recommendations or specialities, then I can only wonder what the regular menu is like.

Did I forget to mention that they forgot our naans, which resulted in hot naans (quite nice in fact) being served with warm mains.

We had an entertainment / discount card that was not accepted when we went to pay; the reason being that the restaurant had changed hands, and the new owners were not accepting the card. However, they did offer us a 10% discount as a form of goodwill, but I think that ship had sailed earlier in the evening.

We did let the manager know what we thought of the food, and all he could say was he'd convey our views to the chef.

On the positive side, the service was average.

Given the disappointing quality of the food, I will not be returning here again. There are other places in leura, katoomba and the blue mountains to eat at.
