Description: Zest is an informal licensed cafe/restaurant serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in a modern Australian and Mediterranean style. We take pride in using the freshest ingredients to cook up creative dishes. Our wines are sourced from Orange, Mudgee and the Central West and we use our very own coffee blend, which is roasted in the Blue Mountains. All our cakes and desserts are (also) house made. Serving Breakfast (8am till 11.30am) and Lunch (12pm till 3pm) seven days a week and Dinner on Tuesday till Saturday from 5.30pm

Dropped in for lunch in a cold day at Zest and were we (3 of us) glad to be fronted with a delicious spread of ordered food. Had the North African Lamb Tagine and boy, was the lamb well-cooked. Meat was fragrantly spiced and broke down so well and this served me just right due to my chewing difficulty as a result of recent jaw surgery. The couscous was not cooked to my preference (a touch softer than usual) and mixed with the date chutney and sauce from the lamb, this went down a treat. Other diners in the group had peppered lamb & roast beetroot salad and Seafood Angel Hair pasta. The grilled lamb rump was downright good to the taste and the angel hair pasta was nicely cooked with a touch of chilli to spice up the dish. Lovely coffees served too. A comfy cafe/restaurant to have a slow meal and with good coffee to boot, how can one not enjoy having a meal at Zest. Will certainly come by Zest when next in Leura.

The atmosphere is nice, the service was good, but the value for the money paid made the experience just average if not below average.

We dined as a group of four this last Sunday. Three of us had the egg benedict (emphasis on the singular in egg) that contained one egg, salmon, and two pieces of asparagus on a slice of toast. When the plate arrived, we immediately reached for the menu to add a side because of the small portion. We also thought a mistake had occurred and they had failed to include the second egg/slice of toast! How much does an egg cost? Could they not have added a second piece of toast and a second egg? I encourage the owner to revisit the menu and see what he/she is offering for the amount charged. If not, people will walk to other cafes and this place will have a short life among competitors.

This was a 2nd choice after our first was booked out but we were really happy it was! Delicious flavoursome food and wholesome / fresh dishes. Interesting menu and great for one of our group who is veggie and was happy to have interesting choices too. Highlights were the haloumi salad and the pork belly. Defo recommend.

We had a very enjoyable meal here. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. As for the food, we loved everything! Do try the choc orange pudding and the panacotta, both are delicious. Vegetarians are also well catered for, the falafel plate is delicious and great value!

How many Zest restaurants are there? And how many don’t live up to their Zesty image? Well here is one chef who has accepted the challenge to put that zest into his menu. Guy Nathan’s Zest restaurant at Leura is well worth a visit.

There were 4 of us so we decided to share the entrees. We later realised that we had made a great decision! Balsamic mushrooms, grilled marinated haloumi, patatas bravas (a Catalan dish of smoked paprika and chilli coated fried potatoes with aioli), gambas pil pil (tiger prawns in olive oil, paprika, garlic & chilli) and just for good measure squid and chorizo with lemon & herbs. So many unique flavours gave the Chef a chance to show his wares and he triumphed. Incidentally all the entrees are available from 4pm so if you want a post-Leura Mall afternoon snack then this would fit the bill.

The wine list is proudly local. But given that local includes Orange and Mudgee then it’s a good list covering all bases. We settled for a Windowrie Reserve pinot gris from Orange. Beer and cider are available too. BYO is available.

For mains the boys chose the Paella Mariscos (seafood) and the girls chose Scallops in champagne cream sauce on linguini. The paella was just a little too spicy for my palate but for those with a stronger constitution it may well be just right. The champagne cream sauce was elegant and provided a delicate dressing for the scallops.

The dessert tasting plate for 2 was a great way to finish up, ginger & lime infused panna cotta, strawberries with a decadent chocolate sauce and peach & coconut crumble with cardamom ice cream. Although the Baileys affogato did get a run too.

There was one last surprise. Marshall Williams the Chef who treated us to such fine fare is definitely one to watch. He is only 18 and yet has such an understanding and control over his flavours and presentation. We will be going back as there are a few entrees we missed and some mains still to tempt my palate.
