The Blue mountains has several restaurants that cater to the passing tourists. Most of these are overpriced and the food is average. But Leura Garage was the absolute opposite! Located away from the main drag, it's as much a haunt for locals as it is for passers by. The food is a mix of tapas style and modern Australian, with selections like lamb meatballs, Moroccan fish tagine and heirloom vegetables all making delicious share plates. The pick of the menu is the meat platter! The staff are really friendly and attentive, plus the wine list has a good and varied selection.
This is a great example of how good, simple food made by caring hands can be amazing!

Interesting restaurant, set inside an old garage at Leura. Our group of 8 all enjoyed various meals at this venue, while we were staying in Leura for a few days.

The last two times I have been to the garage I have been disappointed .Didn`t think it was good value and not well cooked. The worst was the chicken nuggets my granddaughter ordered. They look liked they had been cooked twice, a dark brown almost burnt colour. The actual chicken inside was a horrible grey colour. The pizza looked as though it had been precooked and heated up, not good. I am a local but will not be eating there again. Was great when it first opened but sadly has gone down hill.

We took the menu's advice and had 4 dishes to share between 2, which was a bit too much (although perhaps pizza isn't meant to be a shared dish). Standout were the pork ribs - delicious and a perfect portion for two. Pumpkin pizza was also good. Roast spatchcock was nice but very simply done, particularly if the super hot sambal isn't your thing. Croquettes were ok. The big disappointment was that, despite asking twice if the dishes could be staggered, all 4 essentially came at once, so were were cramped at the bar with lots of plates and half our food cold by the time we got to it - I wish the waiter has just suggested we ordered two dishes later so they didn't all come at once. That said, it was still a good meal out and great atmosphere.

Walking back to our car on our second afternoon we spotted this place so we came back for dinner at 7 but the place was busy as. We were told customers would be leaving soon there was 1 other couple also waiting so they asked for our number and within 15mins we were back. Glad we were back, food was gourmet we ordered lamb meatballs and spatchcock with extras and our dessert-dark creme caramel was to die for. Decor original and atmosphere of the place was very hip. Service, though the place was packed and staff were run of their feet, was good and staff always had a smile on their face.
