I booked the Rooster as a special treat for my wife's birthday. The Rooster did not disappoint. Upon arrival on a wet and windy night we were warmly greeted. The Maitre De took my wife's coat and asked her if she was cold. He suggested an aperitif, which she gladly accepted.
The wine list was excellent and our meal was very good indeed.
This was a rewarding experience and the bill for two of us was not bad at all.
If you want to experience an old fashioned romantic evening, treat yourself and go here.

From the moment we arrived at the door, it was as though we had been expected. The service on the part of the maitre d was wonderful; he seduced us, effectively, leading us to good choices through our own desires. The food was lovely - simple, unpretentious and beautifully realised. The Edwardian dining room is sumptuous. Others around us seemed to be enjoying themselves too. Just one small suggestion - and that is to perhaps double glaze the wonderful front window so that we could see out to the magnificent view; on our visit the evening was cool and the window steamed up. We thoroughly enjoyed our night and look forward to returning.

We were on a walking holiday with friends and really not dressed as well as we should have been. So apologies to the other diners!!!

The Rooster is fairly expensive, but well worth the money. The food was excellent, the service exceptional and ambiance very good, even though it was a fairly quiet night.

An excellent place to go for that "special" night out - in our case our wedding anniversay.

Many thanks.

Went here recently for dinner. I had the duck confit which was delightful. My partner had a similar experience with his meal. A great authentic french food and good service. A great little find.

We have been on many occasions always receiving warm reception and great service.
The food is excellent with a huge variety although the menu has remained the same for a long time,no doubt to please the regulars for their favourite dish [duckling is mine] the variety in the specials is always enticing to try something new... The ambience is great but of course for me it is the food, wine and service that makes for the experience I give them ten out of ten for all of these components..
