After reading all the great reviews l dragged my husband to the Paragon for lunch one Saturday. The decor is amazing, however, the staff juvenile & the lunch menu disappointing. We did not see a great variety on the menu so we just ordered scones and tea and coffee. The scones were lovely and fresh and we did not have to wait long for our order. We then went back to the Paragon late Saturday night - 9PM for coffee & cake. We arrived and were made to feel unwelcome with a reluctant waiter taking our order, which we were told could only be tea or coffee (we also purchased a few over priced chocolates from the display case). The lady that served us behind the chocolate counter was very rude and unwelcoming. She sat a couple at our table whilst we were making our chocolate choices and when another waiter told her we were sitting there, she turned around, gave us a dirty look and profusely apologized to the couple she had seated at our table. We were made to feel unwelcome and quite embarrassed. Two visits were enough, would not go back.

Called in for a late brekky, and we were pleasantly surprised.
The staff were really friendly and I was impressed with how quickly things came out.
I had the French toast which was cooked to perfection.
While we were there, the kitchen switched to lunch menu. A couple came in asking about breakfast, and even though they were on lunch menu, after a quick trip into the kitchen to double check with the chef, there was no problems at all.
The atmosphere of the restaurant really made it different and interesting.
Would be happy to return!

We went there for a birthday and expected it to VERY expensive but it turned out to be fine. I ate bacon and eggs. They were delisous. It is true that the place may be a little run down. A little! To top all of that off are the chocolate's.

Ph and did i mention the cocktail lounge?

If you love tea time, you must go there. Try the home made chocolate, one of the amazing cakes or the scones. Also soups and sandwiches look nice. The music and atmosphere is brilliant but try to go before 3pm. They close early and you want to hang out a bit there...

If only more of these places existed in Sydney...If you like to escape into other eras of time - then this is the place for you!

Quirky staff, Wooden backbreaking booths, old school cabinets and ornaments, and the walls aligned with black and white photographs of singers like Kate Cebrano and T.V Soapie stars that remind you 'how relatively young Australia is'

Food was delicious - coffees were the best we'd had in Sydney and the deserts were AMAZING.....You can purchase handmade confectionery and retro trinkets on the way out!
