The location of this hotel is brilliant. In the town of Katoomba, its close to everything you need. What's more its a walk or a drive to some of the best views in Australia, the Blue Mountains.
Clean and tidy, the hotel met our needs.

Room Tip: A room to the outside seemed favourable

when I arrived to the hotel it was after a long flight to Sydney so it was great to find the hotel just outside the train station at a perfect location in town. During my stay I could feel the warm and kind atmosphere of the metropole with the staff being helpful and advising me on the best spots to go in the mountains. I found my room slightly small yet most importantly for me it was quiet, clean and well maintained. I really enjoyed having breakfast and dinner at the hotel and found the lunch pack a good value for money. In the lounge area I played pool and ping pong and found other travelers who in the end spent the following day exploring the mountains with me. I will definitely come back for another visit at The Metropole!

We had an inside room which Was a bit dark but looked out over the atrium to the guest playroom
We had so much fun playing pool n table tennis and met some really nice peeps there also
The lounges and reading room with what I call a widows walk where just so " in character " tad noisy but great value and so convenient to loads of stunning restaurants especially Sanwiye Korean in Katoomba street.
Enjoyed we will come back so many laughs.

We had one day to visit the Blue Mountains from Sydney and picked this guesthouse because of its character and close proximity to the train station. We booked online about 3 weeks in advance (via Blue Mountain site) and had no problem when we arrived. We were surprised to see that they have a small lift. Our room had a window to the courtyard and was clean and comfortable. The common areas have plenty of places to sit (free wifi) and feature beautiful architectural details from the 1930's period. We purchased the hot breakfast, which was a fixed but plentiful (eggs, fresh fruit, beans, tomato, bacon). Included was also toast, tea/coffee, cereals, juice and canned fruit. They offer a $6.00 lunch they make for you to take away in the morning if you ask in advance and also a dinner special each night. We only had the breakfast. When we couldn't receive wifi in our room (ask when you book), they had no problem changing it. We would've used the common areas if they couldn't but it was a nice gesture. The staff was helpful and gladly held our luggage until 15:00 the next day until we returned to Sydney via train. You can walk to the Three Sisters or take a bus, Downtown Katoomba is around the corner, the town is quiet after hours (at least when we were there). For the limited time we had, The Metropole was a great pick for us. Decent price, too.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms have windows towards the courtyard is my guess. If you need wifi in your room you may want to ask ahead for a few rooms may not receive the signal.

Travelling through the Blue Mountains to Sydney we stopped in Katoomba for lunch & decided to stay overnight so we could fit in a bush walk & famous sites. We found s deal on booking .com & after reading the good reviews went ahead with the booking. We were enarmoured by the charm & friendliness offered-felt like stepping back in time (so much nicer than the sterile atmosphere & poker faces) found in some of the modern venues. Good value, clean, comfortable excellent location. We had breakfast which was substantial & tasty. Room we had was a little small, we didn't find that a problem, it was clean cosy & comfortable. Would definitely stay again when travelling through the mountains.
