“Unforgettable”
Reviewed December 20, 2009

I felt like a princess in a castle when my husband surprised me with our first trip to Windradyne in 2006. So this gorgeous B and B was our first choice as we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this year (2009).

The place is magical from the moment you set foot on the pebbled driveway. The heritage building and antique furniture transport you back in time....perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. You immediatley feel relaxed as the sights, sounds ( great muzak in the formal lounge) and smells delight your senses. We choose to stay in the upstairs attic spa suite " Gunnedo". As I climb up the tiny stair case I felt as though I was escaping to my private hide - away! And that's exactly how this suite feels. We spent hours just hiding away up there...enjoying the spa ,fireplace and the INCREDIBLE view of the Jamison Valley. On this last trip we met couples from New York and Manchester . Both couples commented that this view was unlike any they had seen! Windradyne has it all ...man made and natural beauty!

The location of Windradyne allows for luxury and simplicity. One night we watched the sunset over the mountains as we dined at "Echoes Boutique Hotel" restaurant ( just a walk up the road). Very lush ,amazing meals that were plated like works of art and tasted incredible ( the world's best creme brule). The next night we watched the sunset as we sat on a park bench at Echo Point ( across the road) and dined on a delicious gourmet pizza!

Veronica, our host, went out of her way to spoil us over our 3 day anniversary escape. We enjoyed home made treats by the fire ( yes ...there are some cool december nights!!) and the gift of a bottle of champagne ! Which we enjoyed in the spa of course!

For an unforgettable experience.... Windradyne is a perfect choice!

This must be one of the top places to stay in the Blue Mts. Superb location, excellent accomodation and breakfasts, and you could not wish for a more attentive and helpful hostess in Veronica. Throughly reccomended and the four poster bed in the Wimlah suite is surely the unbeatable finishing touch,

My husband and I stayed for two nights for our wedding anniversary celebrations, we had not visited the Blue Mountains for many years we were made to feel very welcome as soon as we entered that beautiful old home, the hostess Veronica advised us of the fine restaurant's in the area, what to see and do in the area like the bush walks etc, each morning we had a lovely breakfast cooked by Veronica and she certainly was generous with her portions so much we could not eat all of it. We would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Being directed to remove your shoes is not the ideal welcome especially since this is preceded by a dizzying array of other signs indicating do's and dont's as you approach the front door. The view is dominated by the carpark for the Echo Point Tourist Centre across the road, which you have to look past to see the Blue Mountains. The decor is a bit gloomy with lots of ordinary ornaments and doilies.

We stayed in the Wimlah Suite which had a wonderful view from it's bay window across Echo Point. The four poster bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.

The breakfasts were delicous and huge. No one left the table hungry.

The Katoomba town centre was about a 30 minute walk away (up hill) and the only resaurants close by were good but a little pricey.

We had a very nice stay. We enjoyed the coziness, the sherry, the spectacular views, the generous breakfast and Veronica's warmth. We had a lovely bathroom but our overall room was quite small so that would be my only complaint. Would definitely stay there again.

We just returned from a great trip to Australia and this B&B stood out as a real highlight. We stayed in the Wimlah Suite, which has an incredible view from the huge bay window and a very comfortable bed. The location couldn't be better. We took a stroll across the street in the evening to see the Three Sisters floodlit at night. The breakfast was also outstanding. Try the pancakes topped with homemade butterscotch sauce and banana. The hostess, Veronica, was very pleasant to chat with.
