The staff were friendly and quite prompt in attending to us.

The location was quite good, very close to Echo Point Lookout and the walking trails. About 20 minutes walking distance to the town so overall it was ideal for our holiday.

Rooms were clean and tidy but looked outdated and a bit drabby. The TV was old school with only analog channels, no digital. The hotel's sauna and spa weren't working either when we visited.

The breakfast was extremely dissappointing. It consisted of a choice of either cheap bread or three bland cereals and didn't look appetizing at all. There wasn't much choice either.

Overall the hotel provides good basic rooms but does not exceed expectations really in any way.

After reading mixed reviews we weren't sure what to expect, what we found was a charming hotel in a great location, close to the town center and all local attractions. Our room was clean, warm and very comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The complementary breakfast was served in the main dining room which had a log fire that was perfect on a cool mountain morning. We will definitely be staying here next winter magic weekend.

We have been going here every weekend for the past 3 months. Service has been great. Staff are always very helpful and friendly. Staff supplied a DVD player to our room on request. Rooms have always been heated before our arrival. Clean and tidy. Will continue to go back in the future.

The hotel was OK. Not rated outstanding. Breakfast was continental; it might have been nice for the central fireplace to have been lit well before the guests came to breakfast, so that the room could warm. We were allocated a different room upon arrival as ours was not ready at midday. It was clean and adequate. No tissues provided in the bathroom. No GPO for the kettle other than on the floor. Would we stay there again? Probably.

La Maison Hotel is located 10 minute's walk from Echo Point. It is a family-run hotel. Continental breakfast is served between 8.30 and 9.30 am in the dining room - too short a window period for guests who wish to sleep in. There is a small jacuzzi and sauna but they were not in working condition when I was there.

Never again! Very cold and decor is tired, eg a replacement carpet patch in front of the bathroom door was dark green. The same carpet elsewhere in the room was light green. TV was basic non digital with only four commercial channels,

Arrived around 2pm. Outside temperature at Katoomba was 6 degrees max for the day. Central heating not yet turned on in hotel or our room. In our room, some windows were open a bit and with outside temperature and cold winds, room was like an ice box.

Turned small oil heater on but it didn't do much good and it kept turning itself off. Despite requests during afternoon, best we got was a replacement larger oil heater mid afternoon and a second oil heater around 5:45 pm. We asked for another room but were advised only two available, one very small and both cold with central heating off so no use moving.

Central heating turned on in rest of hotel late in evening but only on low and not in our room. Staff couldn't get central heating to work in our room. We left to go out for dinner at 6:45 and the central heating was on when we cam back around 9pm. We were advised in the morning that they came in while we were out and fixed it. We knew somebody had been in as things were different to the way we left it. Room good overnight.

Breakfast time and we walked into breakfast room and straight away went back to room for coats. Bloody cold in breakfast room. We booked a hot breakfast and were advised that it had to come from "town" and would be 15 minutes or so. The staff member said we should have been advised of this when we booked in (we weren't). There was no choice on what we wanted or how we would like it cooked. Two poached eggs, one rasher of bacon and half small tomato arrived eventually but not hot. Not good value for $10 a head.

Room Tip: Don't use this hotel. Can negotiate on price.

This place had nothing boutique or hotel about it! It was fairly clean and the beds were good - but it felt rather tired and shabby all over. The staff were very absent and impersonal. The breakfast of processed sliced bread that you toasted yourself and tea/coffee you made yourself was very backpacker in style - while the price of our stay was not!
We stayed here as the location is good - so near town and the places to visit - but if you have a choice within this price range, we'd not recommend it.
