“Lovely and affordable getaway”
Reviewed August 3, 2010

To celebrate my birthday and the end of exams my boyfriend and I decided to have a weekend in the mountains. As a student and backpacker, we were cautious that we didn't want to spend too much but were keen to treat ourselves to a lovely B&B and enjoy our weekend.

After a long search I finally found Ballykissangel and we can't recommend it enough. Both rooms are absolutely gorgeous but we opted to stay in the blue room for the design and double spa. The green room has a log fire. The decor was second to none and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We also really enjoyed the flexibility of being able to have breakfast whenever we wanted in the self-serve kitchen. The hostel is in a great location, perfectly situated a 10 minute stroll from town and a 5 minute walk to Echo Point. And the Blue Mountains Chocolate Factory is only a minute's walk down the road!

The best part about our stay at Ballykissangel is that romance wasn't forced down our throats, we had a lovely weekend, lots of privacy, and it felt more like a home away from home. We will definitely be visiting again. Maureen is the perfect host and very very funny, we spent a good hour chatting and laughing to her. She even dropped our bags off at Leura when we were leaving. I would strongly recommend this B&B to any visitor to Katoomba, it really made our trip so enjoyable.

We stayed at the Green room in Ballykissangel B&B in June 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room was absolutely spotlessly clean and the bathroom was really, really nice. The room was a great size and the bed was comfortable and the real log fire - perfect! We liked having the extra bed in the room - great to spread our stuff out on while we were there.

Easy to look after breakfast when you're doing it yourself in 'your' side of the kitchen. The DVD choice was ok, and enjoyable for us when we were tired of walking at night in the cold.

All in all, I would recommend Ballykissangel, the host, Maureen is wonderful, very helpful and the location, size, cleanliness and price (particularly compared to other B&Bs in Katoomba!) all combined to make this an excellent choice. You won't be disappointed.

We had a lovely spacious room and a bathroom with a spa bath (shower over bath rather than separate). This is not the traditional b & b in that the owner, Maureen, provides the requisites for a light breakfast in the fridge in the guest kitchen and you then make it yourself. We liked this arrangement because the kitchen was available to us all day and we brought in food on one occasion and ate it on the verandah.

Maureen was extremely helpful and collected and returned us to the railway station.

I just want to say, I took my fiance away to the blue mountains for his birthday, and I booked in this cute little B&B - what a treasure. The land lord is Irish and so charming. We felt right at home! Each room has a Spa bath - which is sooo romantic... fill the massive tub to the brim and enjoy! We also enjoyed watching her collection of DVDs in bed... plus just down the road from 3 sisters, and right next door to the most awesome Swiss Restaurant!! would totally recommend to anyone!

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night while hiking in the Blue Mountains. The owner, Maureen, offered to pick us up from the train station but I thought it would be better to walk to get to see the town...word of advice: if you have heavy luggage, have Maureen pick you up. It's only about a 20 minute walk from the train station but there are some serious hills on the way.

The place is the perfect venue if you're looking to hike and explore the Blue Mountains. It's only about a 10 minute walk to Echo Point to see the Three Sisters (and there is an excellent chocolate shop along the way that is a MUST for anyone with a sweet tooth visiting Katoomba). It's on a quiet street in a cute house, within easy walking distance to the main section of Katoomba as well.

When we arrived, Maureen told us we were the only ones staying that night and that we could "swing from the chandeliers" if we wanted to. Another couple did end up staying in the other room that night, but we still felt like we had privacy. Everything about the place was perfect: very clean, cute little kitchen with basic breakfast items included, a jacuzzi bath that was just what we needed after a long day of hiking. And my boyfriend and I both agree that the bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in.

I highly recommend staying here if you visit Katoomba. We hope to make it back to the Blue Mountains someday, and if we do, we'd love to stay here again.

The rooms are extreemley clean, comfortable and large, we had a sofa in ours, a real home from home. Breakfast is continental style with all the makings left in your own part of the kitchen, so you can come and go as you please. It is located a short walk from echo point and the town centre. Maureen was very helpful in identifying restaurants for the evening and things to see in the area. Excellent value for money

my husband and child travelled with me to Katoomba earlier this year. We stayed at ballykissangel after recommendations from several friends. We were extremely impressed with the classic beauty and quality of the rooms. The host, Maureen was friendly, and so very accomodating to our needs, whilst allowing us room to enjoy everything as if it was our own. I will strongly recommend this to anyone who travels to Katoomba that wants a very comfortable, stylish, and easy place to stay.
