I started my day in the Blue Mountains and Echo point with a few of the three sisters. They're quite stunning and an interesting rock formation. I then continued on a hike down the Giant staircase, along the valley floor and back up the second staircase with a stop at scenic world. Scenic world was different, and it was interesting to see how built up you can make a national park. The train and the history behind it was interesting. The gondola looked like a great way to get a lot of lazy tourists up and down the mountain. The stairs up were not very challenging and took about an hour with a leisurely stop at a waterfall on the way up. The walk back to the car was shorter than expected. Lots of great pictures taken! total trip time was between 3-4 hours with lots of time for breaks. Recommend to anyone who can walk up a few flights of stairs.

Great views and beautiful walk! There was a section with some pretty steep stairs which made it quite a thrill!

The view along the Jamieson Valley from Echo point and looking past the Tree Sisters is simply awe inspiring. The three old girls on their own are worth the look but for anyone with the slightest sense of adventure and inspiration a full day at the Mountains is simply magnificent. My advice would be to hook up with a company that takes you beyond Katoomba, into Leura, to Evans lookout and Blackheath, making sure you visit the off road beauty spots along the way. These views are simply breathtaking and unlike any you will see in alpine and high mountain country, mainly because of the gum trees and the natural beauty of the rock face.Top off your day back at Katoomba with a visit to the attractions ( the scenic railway is the best).

As long as you've heard the Dreamtime story about the Three Sisters, you will like the beauty of it. Apart from that, it's just 3 lumps of rock. I've seen it quite a number of times so it's nothing special for me. On a good sunny day, the scenary is very beautiful, but don't bother going if it's rainy or foggy. You won't see a thing!!!!!

We did this trip on our last day in Sydney. We were going to do an organised trip (expensive), but when we asked at the information centre at Central Quay, they suggested we take the train. It was something like $11 return to Katoomba from Sydney central station - stunning value.

We got off the train at Katoomba and walked to the 3 sisters. A pleasant walk - took about 20 min. The 3 sisters is in a nice setting, with panoramic views over the Blue mountains. We took a hop on/hop off local bus back to Katoomba, after doing the other sites in the area (cable car etc). Well woth the effort to get here. It's not the Grand Canyon, but it's pretty good for a day trip.

Lots of places to eat in Katoomba.
