“Great location for tourists.”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

Only a few minutes walk to the major tourist attractions at Echo Point.
The double bed I had was much more interestingly decorated than your standard beige roomed motel. The inverter system air conditioner was great and welcome in August. Comfortable bed, beautifully warm electric blankets. The room was much more spacious than most motels.

I chose this motel because of the good reviews about the rooms and the staff and neither disappointed. The manager was very welcoming, friendly and easy going. The other reason I chose this motel over others was because it has a kitchenette (microwave, fridge and kettle). A toaster would have been good but probably not feasible in the kitchenette space. Also because of the free wi-fi. That's a bonus. The bathroom is an old-fashioned style but with a good shower. I really liked the old style pink wall tiles just because they gave the room character. Their is a table, a lounge chair, bed side tables, good lighting, a wall hung table that is just the right height for standing iPad/laptop use. Also a luggage rack so you don't have to leave alll your things on the floor or in the suitcase.

Before Trip Advisor and other review sites, I would never have commented on this, but their were not enough coat hangers or power points. These are trifling things. A simple breakfast is available if you wish to order it, but with a kitchenette there is little need to do so.

There was a great big digital TV, much better than the one I have at home. There was no traffic noise at all, only other people's doors opening and closing and the sound of people walking up the stairs to the second level.

I would stay here again and definitely recommend it for tourists going to the Blue Mountains to see the Three Sisters and sights around Leura/Katoomba.

It is about 20 minutes walk to the main town, or a few minutes drive.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor near the cleaner's room don't get any sun, and really only have a...

We found the staff particularly helpful and friendly, offering lots of welcome information on local sites and activites, along with a great tip for a local brasserie. The room was clean and warm, so happy we stayed here. In a fantastic position, an easy walk to the three sisters. Will definitely be back.

I stayed here with a friend for one night on a quick tour of the Blue Mountains. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment. It was a decent size and great for two people travelling together that want their own space.

We found the room to be clean and comfortable. And it has electric blankets which is a MUST for this area. The hotel is located walking distance from many of the local attractions. We were about a 5 minute walk from the cable car over the valley and about 10 minutes from Echo Point. I highly recommend walking from the cable car entrance along the path to the Three Sisters - it's about 30 minutes and the view is worth it!

The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the center of town where all the restaurant are (or about an $8 cab ride). We did try the chocolate shop across the road. Their chocolate is very expensive. But the hot chocolate was amazing!

A Saturday night in July is peak season so $175 plus breakfast was not cheap. The room was scruplessly clean with effecient airconditioning/heating. Pleasant quiet location in proximity to Echo Point, and opposite hand made chocolate shop. Manager very friendly and helpful. Manageress a bit sour... A smile goes a long way.. Last breakfast at 8 am is a bit too early when you are on holidays..

Room Tip: Upstairs are better - a two storey simple unit, not the most up to date accommodation

My partner and I recently stayed at 3 Explorers and it was fabulous. Unfortunately we had pre-booked another hotel (Hotel Blue), but on check-in were extremely disappointed with it. So disappointed in fact that we forfeited one nights accommodation, and contacted 3 Explorers where we were offered their last room and were able to inspect it first. The 3 Exporers Queen Spa room was immaculate, spotless and very comfortable, warm and quiet. On hearing of our experience with the other hotel, the Managers offered us a complimentary cooked breakfast, which was delicious and very much appreciated. The Managers were welcoming, friendly and professional, and we would very gladly stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for quality Blue Mountains accommodation. It is also well located to Echo Point and Scenic World, and is only a very short drive to the town centre.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Queen Spa Room as this was the only room left. Was quiet and easily accessible.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this motel for two nights as he had business in Katoomba. The location is great; walking distance to Echo Point and across the street from the chocolate shop! (it is yummy but expensive, about $3 per piece). It was very quiet. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful regarding the area, how to get a cab etc. The room was very warm (it was very cold up in the mountains!) with updated, modern decor, clean, comfortable and spacious. Coffee, tea, and biscuits, wine glasses, drinking glasses, and coffee mugs, microwave, fridge, and electric kettle are included. We were able to save money by making our own meals. The first morning we ordered breakfast delivered to our room, with eggs on toast, beans on toast, and canned peaches for $20 for both of us. The bathroom was very clean with plenty of hot water. The heated blanket was a lovely touch. Bed was made up and towels, shampoos etc refreshed daily. My only recommendation would be to add an area mat as the tile floors were really cold even with socks on. We bought a barbecue mat at the local dollar store to put in the bathroom. Also, the towels are looking a bit tired and threadbare, probably time to replace them. In summary, for $130 a night, it was very good value as Katoomba accommodation tends to be on the pricey side. We would stay again.

Room Tip: The motel is small and I think any room would be good. I worried being on the ground floor would be...

I agree with others who have said this is the best affordable motel close to Echo Point. Room was spacious, clean, quiet & well equipped. Bed was comfortable & the reverse cycle aircon was appreciated during a mid winter stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast (poached eggs) was tasty and reasonably priced. Location is 5 to 10 min walk from Echo Point & similar distance also to Katoomba Falls.

Room Tip: The pizzas from the little takeaway store 2 blocks up Lurline st are surprisingly good
