The Flying Fox is the perfect place to stay if you want to escape Sydney, and enjoy Australian nature in the Blue Mountains. The hostel felt like I was at a cottage/ chalet with my friends. Everyone was there to be active and hike, and read and talk if you were staying in for the day.
Free wifi, free breakfast, free coffee, free mulled wine, wood stove fire daily, and free advice always.
Loved my stay here.

We had a good stay here - good price, nice room (private double) and a nice owner. Because there are people working for lodging there were lots of regulars. Having my dishes washed for me was unsettling and I never quite felt comfortable... some work was always going on around me, meaning I couldn't relax. My recommendation would be to limit working hours.

Overall a nice place, good facilities and good people.

This hostel has to be one of the friendliest that we have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

Ross, the owner is always more than happy to offer advice and goes above and beyond to make sure that you have a good time, even providing mulled wine and a meal during our stay.

House rules about keeping Laptops out of common areas from 6pm-9pm meant that it was easy to socialise. The sitting room is really cosy and Ross lights the wood fire on the chilly nights which gives it a really homely feeling.

People with open and friendly personalities will love this place as it's not a 'party' hostel in the sense of crazy drunken shennanigans, but you will have a fantastic fun time. The people who come here don't need artificial dutch courage to talk to each other!

Free tea and coffee was also a massive plus! Would return in a heartbeat.

This place is amazing, me and my partner loved this place.
Ross the owner is so funny and he helped us in our darkest hour!
We traveled to Sydney on Wednesday thinking we could get accomidation and everywhere was fully booked. We went back and he sorted us out and cheered us up!
This place IS NOT for people wanting to party (Drink till you fall over), this place is a place for meeting new people and making good friends.
Highlights: Service with a smile, lots of info on local things to do for FREE!, meeting great people as a result of the no i-Phone/Laptops policy between 6pm & 9pm. Free WI-Fi outside policy hours lol.
This place caters to campers, camper vaners, dorms and doubles meaning you get a really good mix of people. The place feels like a shared house quite a rare find in hostels.
Give the place a try and enjoy a home away from home!

Fun, friendly, cozy! Has a common room full of musical instruments. Is close to the train station. The backyard has a firepit with cushioned benches. If you want, you can tent in the back. Me and my friends loved the interesting paintings and creatively painted walls. The staff let us use their paints and canvases for us to paint a picture & leave our creation behind. We met some great people, had a singalong at night around the fire and tried our hand a the didgeridoo.
