“Will Not Be Back!”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

We decided to go budget style for our week away at the snow and where better we thought than the pub, having a bar, shower, bed and breakfast what else would we need for our week at the snow... How wrong we were!

Rooms are very run down and a little TLC wouldn't go astray, beds were very firm, bathroom had no fan causing wet toilet paper and roof dripping funny colours from vent due to steam and Hot water took at least 5-10mins to come through and that was if it came through at all. All of the above however did not worry us as we knew that with budget accomodation came budget facilities.

Being on a snow holiday a good nights sleep was essential and if you think this way also then DO NOT stay here! We were told when booking that the premises was a live music venue and some music may be heard, this was the biggest understatement of all time no joke I could of had my own admission to the nightclub in my bedroom! It was so bad that a few nights we slept in the car in the carpark... Another clencher was someone vomitted throughout the hallway and did not get cleaned properly for quite some time, probably from the nightclub downstairs as once inside there is nothing to prevent patrons from below walking up to the hotel.

I think management needs to review their priorities and decide if the Banjo is going to be a pub/nightclub or a pub/hotel as all three are not working...

Safe to say we will not recommend or be coming back to stay at the Banjo.

We spent two nights here with two young children (six and 1) over the June long weekend. We had a loft room with a spa. The room was great with enough room downstairs to fit the porta cot and two single beds upstairs in the loft that overlooked the main room.
We appreciated the spa bath at the end of a day at the snow. All the amenities were good in the room and suited us for the two night stay. The king sized bed was very comfortable and a great night sleep each night. No Foxtel in the room meant only minimal channels on TV.
Only 25 minutes drive into Perisher to spend the day at the snow. Location in Jindabyne was good with shops and restaurants nearby within walking distance.
However, the restaurant downstairs gets very busy. My husband went down early and tried to book a table and was told it wasn't required but when we returned at dinner time we were told it was booked out and that we should have booked. After further discussion they eventually found us a table in the bar area to sit - but the food service was slow and with two kids this was not a great option. Breakfast was included and was very basic - eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, toast and some cereal. We chose to leave early on the second morning and opt out of breakfast and beat traffic instead.
On the second evening we elected to eat at the Bowling Club acrosss the road which was busy but food was good.
The views from the balcony in the room over the lake were beautiful and we didn't notice too much noise from downstairs as we were on the top floor of the hotel.
We would recommend to friends and would stay again next time around.

The Bano Paterson Inn is for you if you enjoy waking up to beautiful lake views over Jindabyne lake after a night of hard partying !! The noise from the pub below is enough to keep you awake if you are an "Early to bed" person. Our package had breakfast included ...except that breakfast is "exactly" the same on everyday......better love your sausages, baked beans and scrambled eggs.....coz that's what you'll get every day. The room was ok, but they didn't give us the room ( king bed with kitchenette) that we had booked, but the receptionist was kind enough to organise a few plates and cutlery when requested.

Parking is very limited ( had to park on the street for the first day)....although its next to the police station, so probably very safe.....

The location is convenient as its right next to the shops and on the main road....overall an average hotel in a great location.

Room Tip: Ask for lakeview rooms

It wasn’t the best place to stay at, it wasn’t the worst, but for the money you pay you can probably go elsewhere for cheaper with less rowdy and rude patrons. You basically pay for the convenience of the location.

We checked in, parking is limited is here so get in early. We had the room with the spa, the room is clean but very dated. The carpet and the ceiling had questionable stains. The heater doesn’t work very well, be prepared to wait for the room to heat up. The shower kept changing temperature, not fun.

At check in we reserved a seat at the bistro an hour early after hearing it was busy so when we came down so we could get seated straight away after a long day on the road and slopes. Got down an hour later we had to wait about ten minutes which is fine, then two sets of three groups came in. They got seated first then another ten minutes we got seated. This was not a good start. After finally ordering our food, we then waited another 50 mins for our food. We also had the pleasure while eating our dinner to watch a show of a drunken girl trying very hard to hit on the four men in the next table. And of course being a Saturday night the ‘doof doof’ went on till after 3am. And even being on the top floor, you can still hear this and it will get very annoying after awhile.

Next day, trying to park was a joke. The top and undercover car parks had idiots parked across two spots. Which is awesome when there is limited spots and lots of people needing a spot.

I don’t think I would stay here again, not for the price and the patrons.

Room Tip: Stay on the top floor during weekends.

The views from our balcony of the Lake are superb however we also get the highway noise, the roof is apexed so when the sun comes up it comes in over the curtains and from 10am the sound of the pokies drift up to the balcony! Plenty of room in the suites, clean but needs a little maintenance. So for the price and a brief stay over where you are out of the room all day and up early to enjoy the out doors, no problem. Bistro meals are good nothing more and a short walk there is a number of reasonable cages and restaurants. Doubt we would come again as most of the staff although courteous no nothing to solve problems like cold water or broken kettles. Oh I nearly forgot my husband says their spa was excellent after a day on the road.

My boyfriend bought this deal which includes accomodation with the Banjo but unfortunately we got lost. We followed the address on the coupon which was the wineries address, we were lost and tired in the middle of nowhere with no reception. We had to backtrack to Cooma and ask someone before we finally made it at 10pm (We left Sydney at 2pm)

We booked in for a spa but was not available the next day and I don't like changing rooms so that was a bit of a down side.

Service wise - everyone was friendly and relaxed but no one was there to help at reception everytime I went downstairs to ask a question.

Room was relatively clean, but the cover sheets are horrible if you flip them over and take a look at them. The bath wasn't clean though, I could see someones snort or something on the side of the bath.

I guess the whole getting lost put me off the entire trip so maybe that's why I didn't see much good out of the hotel.

We stayed in a deluxe room with a spa which was lovely (except for the matchstick blinds, which meant the sun streamed through early and woke us) and the bed was very firm but comfortable, but we could hear every noise from the adjoining room. There was a birthday party on and after the bar closed, the party continued in the room from 12.30am til 3.30pm. We asked the guests to quieten down a bit, to no avail and finally got the duty staff to have a word with them, but again the party just continued. I know it's not the hotel's fault if inconsiderate guests play up, but the hotel should either instigate or enforce a "consideration of other guests" rule - or lose potential guests. The staff were all friendly, efficient and helpful, and apologetic at our bad experience, but our experience left us regretting staying there.
