“Everything you need but thin walls and basic decor”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

We loved this place because we could come home at the end of a great day of skiing and make our own quick dinner and flop in front of the telly. It has everything you need but like other commenters have said - take some ear plugs. We could hear the man next door's hour-long phone conversation in excruciatingly boring detail!

The bathrooms are very small, but as I've travelled a lot in Japan, I was used to this, but other more fussy people might find it an issue. Bed was comfy!

Stayed with a group of friends in the motel room, for budget accommodation it really does not disappoint. Comfortable beds, rooms with plenty of space, great entertainment at the local pub and all you can eat buffet which really hits the spot after a long day of skiing. The only minor setbacks were TV was too small for such a big room and the need for a kitchen bench.

Room Tip: Bring your portable bbq for an alternative option to dining out!

We had really good start with extra quick check in and helpful staff in gear hiring shop. Room was ok in size and reasonably clean. Two major problems with room were:
- sound proof is non-existent - we could hear every movement in the next room, even people ther has ben very quiet
- ventilation in the bathroom made noise comparable with the truck engine.
The biggest issue with this property was food - the buffet food is simply terrible (greasy and overcooked) served in the dark room furnished by old plastic furniture. The other option is 'cook your own steak' - pricier and apart from steak is the same with the buffet food (sides, salads etc.). As Station is outside of the main village it takes some effort to reach any other eateries. Be aware.
Overall - very avarage property at the best.
I would not recommend this property.

I don't know why everyone rates this place so low...I think if you're looking at staying in this type of accommodation then you can't expect to rock up to 5* luxury.

We stayed in the yurt style accommodation that was divided into half. Inside was a double bed partitioned off on one side of the room with three singles on the other. There was also a small shower and toilet room. In my opinion the yurt style buildings are a better option than the dorm-like rooms shoved closer together in the middle of the resort. They are set further out and seem to be a little quieter. We were across from a reserve that had kangaroos on it every morning.

Yes it's basic - but for the price in comparison to other Motels/Hotels/Apartments etc in the area you are coming out on top. There is everything you need in the room, including adequate heating, flat screen TV, small fridge, comfortable bedding and even a drying cupboard for all your wet snow gear! Although the decor is somewhat dated, everything is kept clean and tidy and a daily mini service from the cleaning team is also included in the tariff.

The convenience of onsite food options is a bonus. There's a takeaway pizza place onsite that serves half decent pizzas with tonnes of topping on them for $15.95 - a cheap and easy way to eat after a day on the slopes. We also tried the buffet (tip -pre-purchase your buffet voucher from reception and it's about $5 cheaper each) and the food was ok with lots of options.

Now...YES the lack of sound proofing IS A BIT OF A PROBLEM. We had a snorer in the next room that we could hear all night long...not only is it a bit creepy - it's annoying. Surely there is something they can do to fix this? Even ensuring that the beds in each room are not sharing a common wall?? Anyhow this did not completely wreck our stay and it's nothing a good pair of ear plugs can't fix (maybe they should provide these free of charge for guests?).

Overall I would still happily stay at the station

Stayed on an 'our deal' voucher which was just 199pp and included 2 nights here plus 2 days lift pass for Perisher. Great value but very very basic accommodation. The room we had (despite us only being a party of 2) contained 3 singles beds and 1 double and had a dorm type feel to it. The room was huge and this place is obviously meant for groups. The lighting in the room was just a big commercial type light - no lamps. The noise from the adjoining room was also very loud - the walls in this place must be so thin. The station is a 'resort' and was bigger than expected. Its like a holiday park and contains a bistro, a pub and a pizza shop. The food is expensive - however, you can;t seem to get a pizza under 25AUD anywhere in this area! The Station is approx a 8min drive into Jinderbyne which is a cool little town - here you can have breakfast at one of the little cafes for half the price of the station. We also ate at a thai place called Maya - this is on the road heading out to Thredbo/Perisher. Was quite nice food and service, although stick with the thai food rather than the Indian (they do both). Perisher skiing in June is minimal - having skiied all over the world, Perisher was disappointing - preferred Thredbo. However, the lack of early season snow was some of the cause. Also, Perisher was extremely busy and due to the lack of runs open, all abilities were skiing in one place - not good, esp when snowboarders are constantly falling into you!!!

My group of around 17 friends have bought "Our Deal" vouchers and we can't complain of the value for money. We started dealing with the property by email, booking rooms and getting information - emails were quickly replied and service was great.
Yes, noise is an issue, we can hear other people's conversations from adjoining rooms. But you know what? If you were tired from the trip from Sydney on the first night, and tired from your first day of snowboarding, that's just a minor problem! I slept very well on the double bed next to the massive heater...

Restaurants & bars with entertainment located on site. Ski hire also. Rooms are roomy, comfortable & warm, spread out across a large paddock.Several km's out of Jindy, there is a good chance of seeing kangaroos, wombats etc. Plenty of hot water for a nice shower. Lovely girls over the phone when taking my booking, to the checking in process.
