An old building housing about six units and not far from demolition given the quality of surrounding accommodation.
The units are comfortable and clean, they have air conditioning but it doesn't work very well. The owners obviously recognize this because our unit had an additional portable air con.
Bathroom, kitchen, and in general all the unit has a fifties decor. There is a tiny balcony out the front, about a metre wide and it is possible to see the ocean. Other than perhaps the front unit there is no ocean view it is only a fifty metre walk to the water (and about 300 metres to the town centre. On the basis of the price we paid, I would consider it good value

Located directly across from Main Beach and Pool, you couldn't get a better location. Reasonable price, maybe a little on the high side compared to quality of other apartments in the area, however, still cheaper. Older Style. Would be very easy for the owners to freshen up the interiors.
Amazing view from the shared balcony.

We stopped here for the night, having seen that another motel we had chosen from tripadvisor reviews, was fronting onto a very busy road and away from the ocean.

It being off-season, the place was empty, although the owners live in the building. We found them pleasant and accommodating. Would be a bit nervous staying here as a single traveller as the apartment we stayed in fronted onto the road, so it did feel a little open to the general public, if we left the curtains open. However having said that, the place felt quite safe and the overall area was pretty upmarket.

Its not a luxurious motel by any means, however everything we needed was there; good kitchenette, full cooker, abundance of crockery and utensils. Also had two roomy bedrooms with a separate sitting room area.

Had an old style TV, and the couch was pretty flimsy. Overall the place had a seldom-used, holiday rental feel. Despite this the bed was not damp, had an electric blanket and the shower was in the 'rainfall style', nice an powerful with plenty of hot water available.

Beach adjacent to the place was lovely, with a sea-water swimming pool to one side, and a great causeway type walk at the other end.

Tried a nearby Chinese takeaway, and definitely would not recommend it.

To summarise, if you don't want to spend a fortune, like a nice sea-view, and don't mind not having a flat-screen TV, this place will suit you well. Would especially suit families with children in the high season, when they could use the beach and pool nearby

The i-Site office in Forster worked very hard establishing availability for the night, and of the choices offered we went for this property as it was ocean front, had catering facilities and near to restaurants, should we choose to eat out. The unit had a reasonable living area (flat screen tv) with kitchen - 4 electric rings and oven, a microwave, a decent fridge-freezer; a double and a twin bedded room, bathroom and patio - adequate for a small family, staying a few days (although we were a couple staying one night).

Our unit was indeed facing the ocean - on the road running along the beach - so we just had to cross the road to reach the sand. The road was light on traffic, so we had no serious issue with cars, etc and we were able tp park outside our unit (although parking is also available at the back of the property). My wife felt a little insecure being at street level, particularly as the property gave the impression of needing a bit of maintenance, especially doors & windows! Whilst our patio faced the front, it lacked privacy, as it was on the road.

The fixtures and furnishings were of cheap quality and the lounge and patio would benefit from a thorough refurb. Whilst the interior was clean enough the patio, being on the street was a bit dirty.

The beach seemed okay, but empty in late afternoon with the sun going down - but this was March, not the height of the season. I swam in the rock pool at the end of the beach and this was okay, but not memorable.

There was little in the way of food shopping in the town (although on the way onward, next day, we did find an out-of-town supermarket). So we decided to eat out. The choices were dreary. We wanted a really good fish restaurant, but could only find a greasy fish & chip shop or a restaurant with only one poorly positioned table available, and a limited and over-priced menu. So we ended up at the Hogs Breath, or something similar - which shows how desperate we were!

As we sat on our patio after dinner, with nothing to do in this town that seemed to have closed for the rest of the year, we watched the lightening as a heavy storm came over. Next morning it was overcast with intermittent rain, so we never saw Forster at its best.

Our opinion of the property is a little jaundiced by the low opinion we gathered of Forster. In a more attractive town and in brighter weather this lodge would have been more attractive.
