Description: The Reef recently underwent a refurbishment to the bar and restaurant and now boasts an eclectic fresh decor, where guests can relax in the ambient and modern surrounds from the best vantage point in Forster. Guests can enjoy a cocktail or beer with friends at the new outdoor/indoor bar overlooking the sparkling Wallis Lake, or they can stay for a delicious meal delicately prepared by head chef Peter Tjornelund. The menu is a fusion of Asian and European cuisine and features mouth-watering meals such as a garlic and lemon marinated pork cutlet with honey figs, roast kumara, goats cheese and pistachio. The menu also includes an all-day dining option with gourmet pizzas along with a carefully selected wine and beer menu to accompany the meals.

“Good enough for a second visit i the same week!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

We've been here twice this week. The first time as a walk-up, the second as a booking.

First Visit
Entrees were salt and pepper squid (great dipping sauce) and the duck spring roll (another winner).
Mains were the reef fish and chips (awesome chips, but the fish was a little tasteless and pretty heavily battered) and the baked alantic salmon (a little overdone for my wife's liking, and too much tomato/not enough capsicum flavour in the coulis).
My daughter had the kids scotch fillet ... was good enough that she couldnt manage to fit in all the chips that came with it!!
They make a mean Cosmopolitan here. The Iron Bark rose was good (probably a little over priced), but I wouldnt mind seeing a few more rose's on the wine list, particularly for the warmer months.

Second visit (closer the windows and lake views this time).
Entrees were vodka salmon gravalax (amazed my wife could rave about it so much and eat it at the same time) and the king prawn hot pot (i couldnt get enough of the garlic cream and turkish bread after demolishing the prawns).
Mains were crispy skin ocean trout on the specials board (wife's verdict suggests the trout had it in spades over the atlantic salmon from a few nights earlier). I shared her opinion for the chicken breast I had ... while not my preferred part of the bird, the garlic mash and balsamic jus were perfectly matched.

Overall, a great venue with awesome views, quick service - perfect for those wanting that little bit more from a dining experience in Forster (and don't mind splashing out a few extra $$$ for it).

“Great view, great food”
Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

I took my partner and his mother who was visiting from overseas here. We arrived at 8pm to experience a beautiful sunset over the water. Service was good. Food was delicious. Wine is a little pricey, but corkage is $7.00 for byo. Still would recommend to all.

“Views over the river”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

Walked in on a busy night and got an outside table with a view of the setting sun over water and mountains. Had one of the blackboard specials. Tasty but perhaps a little overpriced. Service swift and friendly. Rain came in as finishing but staff managed that well, offering us a seat at the bar to finish.

“Delicious!”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

We had a great meal here, the food (a bit on the expensive side) was delicious! The service was prompt and friendly. We got there about 6pm without a reservation and there was only one table left, close to the bar and toilet, however it turned out to be a blessing as the restaurant doesn't have blinds like some of the others and the patrons sitting in the seats along the outside were asking to move and holding menus up to block the sun. Oh, and the biggest size soft drinks we've seen for a long time too, well done!

Went here on the recommendations of others on this page and was not disappointed. Great view, great food, great and speedy service, despite being very busy.
