My partner and I stayed for 3 nights at this amazing cosy motel! This is our third stay, and if it is even possible, an even more enjoyable trip! We wanted to get away from Sydney, and this motel is so affordable, and great value for money. We booked last minute , 5 hours before arriving, wanting to get away over the long weekend, and Ian was yet again kind enough to let us check in late at about 11pm.

We were allocated room 11, which was a deluxe queen, with undercover parking, and set behind the main units that faced the road, so it was very quiet. The room was pleasantly spacious, and we preferred this room over our previous standard queen. There was a dining table and two seater lounges which added to the cosy factor of the room.

Breakfast was just as we remembered, and ordered it for the 3 mornings that we were there. We love the morning wake-up calls as Ian opens the breakfast door to slide our meals through and calls out “Breakfast!” It is such an effortless way to wake up and have breakfast! We also had dinner on our last night there, I ordered the chicken, and my partner had the lamb. Most amazing home-style cooked food ever! My chicken was cooked to perfection and super succulent! We also indulged in the chocolate pudding and sticky date.

Over our 3 days there, we took our time to get to know the area better (as our previous trips have only been visits to the Japanese gardens, and we have already visited the visitor centre and the peace bell). We had lunch at Breakout Brassiere, highly recommended, a family owned and very friendly restaurant! We spoiled ourselves with an amazing 3 course dinner at The Quarry, superb food, friendly service, and excellent atmosphere with the brick walls and log fire. We went to Darby Falls Observatory after dinner, arriving at 9pm, and the owner gave us a very interesting and informative guide about the stars in the sky. It isn’t really an “observatory”, more like just a shed up a hill, but far away from any light pollution, so as not to obstruct star viewing. When we arrived, there were quite a lot of people there. The perfect cloudless night allowed us to view the amazing stars, and witness multiple shooting stars! We highly recommend this tour as the owner moves the various telescopes and shows us different stars and planets, giving us a very personal experience. The next day we went to the Fun Museum, didn’t really enjoy it, it was interesting, but thought it would be more “fun”. We had lunch at the visitor centre Rose Garden Cafe, quite a busy place but nice food.

We love Alabaster Motel; it is so cosy and makes us feel right at home. It is the perfect rural escape from Sydney’s fast paced and stressful lifestyle!

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights and couldn't of asked for more. The room was spotlessly clean, the heating was great and it was quiet. We stayed around the back and never heard a thing. The bathroom was roomy with a great shower. Will definitately stay again.

Had a 2 night stay in a family room at Easter. This is not the most modern hotel but it is absolutely spotless with the most comfortable bed and pillow I think I've ever had in a motel. We had a back room which was incredibly quiet. The shower was great with plenty of hot water. Microwave, kettle and jug made it easy to supply your own breakfast - but you did need plates. Owner was really pleasant bloke. Had relatives stay here at same time and we all thought it was great value. Have stayed in other Cowra hotels but will now stick to the Alabaster. If you are thinking of staying try and get a back room as lower level rooms are a bit noisy according to the relo's.

Room Tip: Ask for a room up the back -it's much quieter.

Booked in to stay at Alabaster for two nights on return from big motorcycle function. Had a great time seeing the sights of Cowra during the day. Bbest of all was being able to order a wonderful meal in our room each night , not having to get on the bike to go out. Older style motel but great staff, so friendly and made it very worthwhile.

Room Tip: Choose a room up the back away from road noise!!

We lucked into The Alabaster Motel while we were driving to the Jenolan Caves from Melbourne. Our family of four wanted to get as far as we could for the night, but be sure we could have a reasonable place to lay our heads to revive for the final leg of our journey. The Alabaster was happy to accommodate us for an arrival of 1 a.m. We got a two bedroom family suite at a very reasonable price. While a bit dated, it was spotless.

The Alabaster is in our 'contacts' list for our next trip to Jenolan and beyond!

Room Tip: Just ask for what you need. Management is very accommodating!

Stayed here a couple of nights in the family suite. The unit was aging, but still very clean and comfortable with 2x flat-screen TV and a good-sized fridge. The hotel is located on the main road, but road noise was not a problem - unlike noise from the neighboring unit where one could hear even them plugging in their phones for charging. Mostly our neighbors were quiet, but this can potentially be a real issue.

Note that the "2 bedroom" description is a bit misleading in that it's really just one big room with a bed and one bedroom with two beds, not two bedrooms per se.

Thank you for your feedback.

We would disagree with the statement that our deluxe family unit is aging - we have had the unit repainted within the last 12 months, along with new carpet, modern air con, and the installation of 2 new flat screen LCD/LED televisions. We would agree that our bathrooms could be regarded as aging, however we are in the middle of our bathroom renovation programme for the deluxe section, which we expect to be completed by mid march 2012.

In regards to noise - we have always been complimented on how quiet our property is, and I note that this hasn't been a problem for the other trip advisor reviews. I understand that you have given us 5 out of 5 for sleep quality - which we would consider is the main goal for our guests.

Our description of this room is a Deluxe Family Room, and on all the internet booking sites we describe it as a room with a queen bed and three single beds over 2 rooms i.e.: it is a room within a room. You may have thought this was an Interconnecting room, where there is 2 motels rooms side by side, with 2 front doors, and a door through the common wall. We have never described our deluxe family room in this way, either online or verbally over the phone.

Thank you for your feedback, we always endeavor to improve our motel business, having owned the Alabaster since 2006, and are looking forward to staying here into the future.
