Owner description: One of many sea baths in Sydney – a walled-off section of ocean – this one is particularly popular with locals, and includes changing rooms, a picnic area, a kiosk and outdoor massages and yoga.

I was recommended this place by a local and I am grateful for her hint. As they charge you a few bucks, most people avoid coming here, I guess. But the entrance fee is well invested if you look for a quiet place to have a swim in the ocean pool, to have a coffee or get some snacks (much less expensive than in central Coogie) Staff is extremely friendly. They also provide some tables where you can put your laptop on, read the newspaper, etc. They do not provide Wifi access yet so bring your mobile phone as modem for your laptop.

Wylies Baths is a fabulous, clean, saltwater pool in a lovely location, overlooking Coogee Beach. It is also quite historic, having been at its current location for a century. Wylies not only has a beautiful pool, but a lovely kiosk and upper deck (used for functions). You can even book a massage by the sea. Bliss!

Well worth a Sunday morning hang-out, it is as good in winter as in summer. Grab a newspaper, have a swim, sit on a towel, buy a cappuccino from the cafe there. Fantastic.

This is one of the last remaining historic seawater baths in Sydney named after Mina Wylie, an Australian swimming champion in the early 1900's. The pool is large and pristine and the views over the rocks and Coogee Beach are sensational. A great place to hang out for a few hours, with a good book. Simple food and coffee are available. One of my favourite Sydney spots for swimming and relaxing.

This is one of the most glorious spots in the whole of Sydney, a city that has more than her fair share of glorious spots!
Travel back in time to a place when the point of a pool is to swim and the kiosk serves $6 sandwiches and $3.50 hot pies, not a jus-extraction of llama feet on a fluffy bed of overpriced goodness knows what for $36 (Clovelly kiosk, hang your head in shame).
This is the Australia I love.
