We recently returned from our first trip to Australia and one of the highlights was our stay at the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach. We had debated staying in Randwick, since my husband taught a short course at UNSW, but his business associates suggested we stay at Coogee Beach. We are so glad they did as we loved the setting of the hotel. Rather than feeling like we were in a city of four million people, we felt like we were at a beautiful beach resort. The hotel is just off the beach that has dramatic cliffs nearby and there is a walkway that runs for miles along the coast. Even though we arrived during a rainstorm, the surf was gorgeous and we enjoyed the huge waves and even a few brave surfers! The weather cleared after the first couple of days and then the view was outstanding. We booked the escape and explore package which included breakfast and that saved quite a bit, as continental breakfast was $20AU and the hot buffet was $32. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want and the dining room overlooked the beach, a great way to start the day! We had not requested a view room but were very pleased to receive one upon arrival. Since we were there during the winter the hotel was not very busy and I'm sure that made a difference. If we get the opportunity to return to Sydney, we will definitely plan on staying at the Crowne Plaza!
