Pleasantly surprised by hotel. Great access via public transport, heaps of shopping within walking distance. Good access to freeway system. Rooms are large and spacious. Breakfast average. Staff helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Book the 1 bedroom apartment.

This is not a hotel for needy people. It's built functionally for self catering. Located an easy walking distance from the Chatswood station and mall there is plenty to do. It's across the road from the excellent Mamak Malaysian restaurant. Rooms are large and comfortable and beds were great for a sound sleep. Everything worked as expected and promptly after checkin the interconnecting door was opened without even having to request someone do it. The hotel reception staff were focused on the detail and this made for a pleasant stay.

Caught the train from the airport to Chatswood station and the hotel is right there about 100m walk. No train noise either which was great, room was very clean and had good amenities the staff were even kind enough to give us a late check out thank you. Shopping mall is also only short walk away n there is a great sushi restaurant across the road

We have recently changed venues for our conferences to Chatswood Concourse where we held an event for 60 people and we had many of them staying here thru our recommendation which was informal so not recognized which was fine.

We refer approx 200-500 people staying 4-6 nights each to hotels every year in Sydney alone for our conferences so what ever hotel we chose we provide significant value.

We found check it excellent, bright bubbly, friendly and caring the young girl we had was at first a real star asset.

I asked about restaurants and the lovely lass gave us a treasure trove of good options.

Food:
We settled in and decided to order room service for dinner and were quickly disappointed with quality. Food is such an important part of an establishments reputation however it is often most over looked for the corporate traveler, but what do you do..?

As we had payed for breaky we went down to have breakfast and after looking closely at every dish I left and purchased breaky from a local cafe. The breakfast looked shocking and it was unconscionable to think it wasnt obvious to staff that it was well below par. The fruit looked old & dry, the eggs looked hard and everything else looked very unappetizing. It was a dogs breakfast literally.

Apart from the food all was so far so good..

Sleep:

Night one we were literally bumping into each other all night and as I was presenting on stage for 12hrs a day I needed a good night sleep. Night one was not a good night sleep. Also I find it curious that there is not black out curtains in the rooms. They has gaps that let bright street light thru and as a result i needed a mask which is not ideal.

I'm not a huge guy but I am larger and we found the bed quite small so we rang down and asked for our fold out to be made up so my fiance could sleep on it so we could get a rested sleep.

This is where the wheels came undone. We were advised we would have to pay $40 a night for the fold out lounge to be made up. As I was tired when we asked I just agreed and resolved to work it out at check out as we have had to do this MANY TIMES at the over 200 hotels we stay at a year and have NEVER had to pay an extra fee - so i thought would be easy fixed.

Upon check out the lovely lass that checked us in had got out of bed on the wrong side - more to the point I think she had been doing double shifts as she was at the reception all hrs over the 5 nights we stayed. She looked fried, the poor thing and i felt for her.

She was not as friendly and when I asked about the fold out fee she repeated the policy 3 times in a very cold and direct way.

I continued to push and explain my situation and she said she will have to talk to her manager and turned around and walked into the office and came out immediately as the manager wasnt there and continued to repeat he script and ignored the fact that she hadnt spoken to a manager.

She did however say she would waive the cc merchant fee's which was an effort but I was mentally checked out by this point.

$40 to tuck in a sheet? I could understand if we had an extra person staying but we didnt.

Over all we were happy as were my many clients however the little things left me thinking we should try another venue for our 1 doz plus events that we will be holding at Chatswood in 2013.

It was so close to being a excellent experience however the food, paying $40 to have someone tuck in a sheet on a fold out and the lack of follow thru service upon check out and not having my needs met created the last touch as an unpleasant one.

You can have the best experience at a hotel but what the customer leaves with in their mind has the biggest impact on the chances of their return and this was a done deal (to come back bringing 100's of our clients) until check out and now it is in limbo..

Well done on the many great aspects of your great product; room cleanliness, quality of furnishings & fittings and rooms, staff friendliness, big screen TV's.. however... close isn't good enough for me and hundreds of my clients. Who i refer affects my reputation and this left me unsure. Not out just unsure.

My advice adding value shouldn't be an up sell.

Room Tip: dont get breakfats included there are plenty of great cafe's within 5min walk.

Its located about 150 meters from Chats wood railway station and about the same distance from an always busy taxi rank.
The rooms were modern and well equipped, its a bit of a stretch to call it 4 star, but they are clean, well equipped rooms
We booked on a last minute Expedia rate and we still were able to get a room up high [9th Floor] with absolutely no noise.
The desk staff were friendly and helpfiul, and the security is good, you need a keycard to access any floor.
A tip, if you book and pay online, you wont have to pay the ridiculous 2% credit card fee

Room Tip: Go for higher floors

I have stayed here quite a few times over the years (including for a solid month once) and its a good corporate Hotel.

The rooms are always clean, well appointed and of a decent size. It's location is great for Chstswood, close to the train station, malls, motorway etc but Chatswood can be pretty limited after hours for decent restaurants but the one at the Hotel is good.

Overall nice place to stay short or long term, I would recommend to anyone staying on the North Shore

We chose to stay here to attend a show at The Concourse Theatre, and found it very comfortable. Our studio room was clean and spacious, very convenient location, across the road from train station, and short walk to shops and restaurants. On site parking at an additional cost, and staff were very friendly. Would stay here again.
