“Costly for basic room”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Stayed for one night at this Motel in Cessnock. Tea and coffee, 6 milk sachets fine, and air conditioning functioned well. TV small but although it didnt have satellite , just digital was adequate. Lights did not work in toilet/bathroom , nor next to mirror in room, which made it difficult not to wake up wife when I wanted to read, or go to the loo. Total cost for little pokey room too much at $150.00. Of course, breakfast, even basic was not included.
Our short trip by taxi to attend a wedding at Hunter Valley Gardens was $64.00 return, disgusting.
I can see why we go overseas and receive infinitely better value.

Room Tip: Did not have a problem with noise, but try elsewhere and compare

This guest just needed to ask the staff in the office how to access the foxtel channels. In regard to no lights in the bathroom, letting our staff know would have been appreciated, instead of complaining after the fact. The cost of the taxi, is beyond our control. If this guest is looking for 5 star accommodation, don't expect to pay 3.5 star prices.

We had a family room. Not only do the normal prices get put up on weekends but you have to book for 2 nights. So we paid $150/night for two nights even though we only wanted one. Definitely not worth $150. At $100 it would be good value. There was a lot of road noise in the room, the room is dated and the hair dryer bracket pulls out of the wall. The room and bathroom are very small as is the double bed. The sheets and towels didn't get changed.

On the positive side the room was clean, although we did see a couple of cockroaches which surprised me considering the cleanliness. The shower also has excellent pressure and was roomy.

The staff were friendly, The room clean, This motel is 3 star but the service and accommodation was 4 star. On a very busy road but the room was very quite. Accommodation is very limited in this and surrounding areas now due to tradesmen, mining and mining contractors needing accommodation, this in turn pushes up the prices and availability for travellers. It was a surprise to find such nice quite sleep. Would I stay there again YES, Would I tell my friends and family, YES.

Our room was a little dated and the bathroom rather old. The staff were however very friendly and helpful, which made up for the rather basic facilities. Very reasonably priced breakfast served in the room. Per night cost of AU$ 90 (€ 70) seems high to me but I know Australia generally is not cheap.

Our clock was ticking down, unprepared with nowhere to go in the middle of hunter valley at 10pm. One simple and quick phone call got the 3 of us comfortable beds for the night at such a late time and for only 100 dollars. Motel was clean, simple and had everything we needed for the night and kept us worry free and off the road for such a cheap price. It's a motel so nothing flashy but if you need a place to put your head down for the night (or a few) i'd defiantly come here again. Close to the main wine strip and near petrol stations and restaurants. The owners were also very friendly and gave us some tips to visit some surrounding areas in the morning. Thanks for accommodating us at such a late time! Keep up the good work.

Very quaint motel in Cessnock. Has a 70’s style but rooms were clean, spacious with new TV and bar fridge. They also offered free Wi-Fi which was important for us. Breakfast was available for a reasonable cost but we chose to try the local restaurants – we ended up eating at Oporto and McDonalds which were a 2 min walk from the motel. Both were good. At another 5 min walk, there was an IGA for last minute munchies/ pops and that was also very convenient. Owners are extremely friendly and they treated us very well. They were able to get us on a wine tour for the very next day and that was extremely appreciated. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay again

I recently stayed at this motel in the Hunter for one night and could not fault it for the price. It is not like other places in the Hunter where you have to stay a minimum 2 night stay on the weekend and pay outrageous prices. It is really value for money. The room was very clean, the beds are comfortable and the location is fantastic as you can walk to the restaurants in Cessnock within 5 minutes and you are so close the vineyards. If you want value for money - I would recommend this hotel. We had 3 adults staying in a room and there was a double and two singles so it worked out perfectly. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
