“a Great little find!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Ashley and Andy gave us a great welcome, interesting signs around the house, especially if you need washing done. Do not worry it is close to the road, because the garden is great to relax in. The rooms are a good size and bathroom clean.

Run by helpful Ashley and his partner. Situated just off route. We had a short day and spent most of it in the pub , arriving at the farmhouse late. They have a great lounge with pool table , bar , music and chipmunks. The room was adequate, great small shower, good Wifi , good sleep , little noise despite proximity to road. Breakfast was good . It was a kilometer walk back from the pub. Great landscaped gardens.

This is a fantastic place to retreat from busy life, I stayed here with my fiancé and couldn't believe how relaxing and tranquil the environments where. Upon arrival we where made to feel right at home and made very welcome, we both enjoyed the whole evening and morning, I persoanally loved waking up to the sounds of nature, yes of course there is a busy road close by but this was drown out by the sounds of relaxing birds singing and the near by water feature in the pond. I would recommend this place to family, friends and colleagues. Every thing about my stay was truly wonderful thank u both so much, Shaun from hartlepool xx

I recently stayed here with my partner as we just fancied getting away from it all for a night. We arrived in a heatwave; the warmth of which was equally matched by a welcome from the proprietors, Ashley and Andy. We stayed in the converted barn which has been modernised tastefully, with lovely oak beams striking through the ceiling. The room was light and airy, and exceptionally clean and comfortable. You could tell that a lot of effort and thought has gone into the design and decoration and furnishings. We also enjoyed the en suite, which was large and stylish.

The surroundings were stunningly beautiful; with a large outdoor pond which was lovely. We were greeted with a nice glass of wine and the staff were so friendly and helpful. They really went above and beyond.

Breakfast was served promptly the next morning; all locally sourced food and it was delicious. We could not have asked for a better experience.

I would recommend this little sanctuary to anyone and will certainly be booking another stay here myself.

Our stay at somerset house farm was made more enjoyable by the friendly and helpful staff particular Andy who was always ready to tend to your requests or questions. Our room in the converted barn was clean and comfortable and he even took the time among his busy schedule to show us around the place including the gardens and bird aviary not to mention helping me set my sat nav for the scenic route for our onward route to the east coast. He advised us on surrounding places of interest and places to eat and genuinely cared for the welfare and enjoyment of the guests.

Room Tip: we stayed in a room in the converted barn and it was ideal for us, peaceful, comfortable and with an...

We stayed here while walking the coast to coast walk. Ashley and Andy made us really welcome, offering us a very welcome glass of wine to round of a days long slog! Our room was really clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The en suite was modern stylish and had a great shower. We were amazed at how quiet the room was given the location of Somerset House, we did not even hear the road due we suspect to excellent sound proofing. Breakfast was great and set us up for a long day of walking ahead. We would definitely recommend Somerset House to others.

Having made it to IngX and the Blue Bell from the Bay on day one, the effort had taken it's toll and I needed somewhere to 'sort myself ou't PDQ. Not surprised that the Blue Bell was fully booked, I was wondering whether to stay on the lawn or not as landlady Amy tried to contact another B&B where I could stay with access to a landline to get advice from 111 (NHS Direct)
Low and behold in walked Ashley and Andy hoping for a quiet drink who, it transpired, Amy had been trying to contact. They were out of pillowcases but with 2 aquired from the pub Andy left his drink and ran me round to theirs and couldn't have been more helpful in getting me booked in and sorted giving up a good portion od his own free time. With help from back home and going over symptoms with NHS nurses, the problem was resolved and a trip to A&E avoided. With such support I was then able to have a good night's sleep and in the morning decided to resume my fund-raining effort and take stack on arrival at Richmond as I wasn't getting any pain from the 'problem'.
When someone goes 'the extra mile' for you like this it makes all the difference between success and failure!
As for the facilities and B&B experience I can only say excellent all round.
Thank you guys!
