We thoroughly enjoyed our wet 10 days in Airlie despite the unfortunate weather. Our accommodation was very pleasant, with lovely views. What topped it off however, was Jo's helpfulness in accommodating us at short notice when our flight home was cancelled due to fog. Thanks Jo!

Thank you for your kind words - and that we could help with your 'unexpected extended stay'
Hope you can come back in nicer weather - which happens a greater percentage of the time than the tropical weather pattern

I find that I write reviews based on value and I have (hate) to admit I was a disappointed in Toscana. We spent 7 weeks in Australia/New Zealand in March and April and 7 nights at Toscana. The apartment was spacious and the view was very nice. The pool was very clean and pretty. I thought it was too expensive for what we got, however, especially compared to other accomodations we had over our seven week stay in that area of the world. It was the little things that bothered me, that perhaps wouldn't bother others. For example, the only disposable item in the kitchen besides salt and instant coffee was bug spray (e.g. no dishwashing detergent) for the tiny "seasonal" bugs that were crawling on the counters and in the drawers. The acitivity recommendations by the hotel were also questionable. (I had to wonder if they had ever done any of these things.) There was something lacking about the place. Yes, it was beautiful, but I did not feel it was near as nice or as good a value as others who have reviewed this accommodation. Unless I could get a much cheaper price for Toscana, I would look for a different place should we ever return to Airlie Beach.

It has taken me a long time to be able to respond to this review. Initially, I felt it didn't quite ring true regarding the issues that appeared to be the cause for concern.

All our apartments are stocked with set up supplies including tea, coffee, uht milk, sugar sachets, salt & pepper sachets, dishcloth and scourer, washing up liquid, dishwasher sachets, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, rubbish bags - and yes we also include spray for when the little tropical inhabitants make an appearance.
But, if you felt the apartment appeared to be missing supplies - may I suggest always inform reception and (wherever you stay) I am sure that they would see what could be done

I was surprised also of the critcism regarding our room compendiums which are full of information about the area and the tours. It is beutifully presented in a black and gold folder with 10 pages of resort information and 14 brochures of the most popular local tours in the Whitsundays. It also includes a commercially produced insert about the region. Many guests use this compendium to plan they trips and I am really puzzled over your comments that it seemed .... 'questionable' and 'ill informed'

Mostly however, I am dissappointed that you consider the Whitsundays not good value compared to other areas you visitted on your holiday . I suppose like all things you can wait for the specials and promotions, (which often happen) as I know we are very competitive on our holiday rates. Maybe, it was just the timing of your stay in the area that co-incided with our peak period.

Nether-the-less, I am always thankful when visitors take time to write their thoughts as it provides an opportunity for self checking. Thank you, and I sincerely hope you do visit the region again and try out some of the suggested most popluar tours...even if you choose another accomodation house as we are all working to promote this very pretty region of the world.

Stayed at Toscana for 25 days over 4 weeks on business, as I checked out over the long weekend, I stayed in a different room when I got back. One room was right at the top and the other was at the bottom.

The view was spectacular and I was surprised that both rooms were pretty much just as good as each other in terms of view. The balcony was fantastic and complimented the view extremely well allowing me to enjoy all aspects of the water and Airlie beach.

The rooms I stayed in were very spacious, well decorated and fit the bill of a self-contained unit to the T. The bed was one of the best I have experienced in a hotel – and I stay in a lot of hotels!!

Cleanliness was good overall however the toilet was not very clean in both rooms when I arrived and the shower had a small amount of mould along the skirting and tiles in the first room and on the shower head in the second room (nothing too serious).

As for that hill – make sure you have a car or a relatively decent degree of physical fitness. Unfortunately that is the length you have to go to for a view of this calibre. I thought it would be fun to jog it – boy was that a mistake!! :)

Jo (the manager) was very friendly and accommodating.
All in all, a great resort that is elegantly set out. Nice pools and gardens are fantastic.

I will be going back here next time I’m in Airlie and will recommend to others.
Thanks Jo!!

Thank you for taking time out of your busy work schedule to write us a little story! and for the positive feedback and the constructive points.

We have started a schedule of getting an outside contractor to come through the units on a rotational basis to pick up on any bits our regular cleaners miss. (I think you can get so used to slipping through a job as quickly and efficiently as possible that sometimes you see what you think you see instead of really looking... )

Thanks again for choosing to stay at Toscana and good luck with the new position

We just spent 6 nights at Toscana and it exceeded our expectations. Not only was the room and views spectacular, the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The kids loved the pools and the gardens were divine. What really impressed us was the day we left. We arrived at the airport and were missing 1 bag. We called Jo and asked what we should do....she got her partner to drive us the bag to the airport 30 minutes away !!! They allowed us to make our flight and they made our vacation !! We came from Canada for 2 weeks of vacation but we will have Australia in our hearts forever! We are coming back to Toscana. Thanks guys !!!

So glad everything came together in the end..don't fret about leaving stuff behind..you are definitely not the first. We had a guest leave an entire wardrobe of clothes once...i suppose it is good that people leave feeling so relaxed and carefree!!!

Thank you for choosing to stay with us in the first place and we love it when guests come back to this beautiful part of the world...and of course especially back to Toscana Village Resort

Very impressed with the apartment and pool area! It is a very steep walk up the hill tho, but worth the climb!

'THAT HILL'....what else can I say!

Yes it's definitely there....and while guest suggestions like putting in an esculator or hiring a really handsome young man to wait at the bottom and ferry guests back up in a tuk tuk... are very worthwhile considerations...... unfortunately - just can't see it in the budget any time this decade!

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2012

Our family stayed at Toscana (Unit 7) in late April 2012. After a VERY dissapointing 1 night stay at Long Island Resort, we were lucky to find accommodation for the remaining 8 days of our 9 day holiday. I am sure those with young children (ours - 6 & 1) could imagine our stress & panick having to find alternate hotels, re-pack suitcases, connecting cruise boats, shuttle transfers and the rest, whilst juggling 2 kids. Wheeling suitcases, carry-on luggage & manouvering a pram.

So, it was extreamly refreshing when we turned up at Toscana & was greeted by a friendly face. Jo was great, completely understanding & nothing was trouble. We'd explained how our morning had been and Jo says 'right, lets get you all settled in so you can start your holiday, lets put you somewhere near the pools so the kids can enjoy them'. I felt immediately at ease that our yearly holiday could officially begin. Jo kindly helped us take our suitcases to the unit, lifting them up into her little golf cart (in a blink) and we hopped into her cart.

The apartment was well furnished, perfect for families. Everything we needed was on-hand. Having a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine & dryer was fantastic. Their was a vaccumn & mop/bucket (for spills) and the kitchen was great. I would probably suggest the addition of a non-stick type of frypan thou as our bacon took a beating (even with mounds of butter) - kept sticking to the pan. The views are amazing & relaxing on the balcony, particularly in the mornings & evenings and is something we will remember. Our camera was well used! The apartment had two bedrooms - perfect for kids. More than enough room. The lounge area was comfy and dining area spacious. The beds were very comfortable (very important as you can't truely relax if your back is out the next day).

The pools are great. Especially the shallow wadding pool for the kiddies, & our 6 year old loved the waterfall. The BBQ facilities were awesome & the pool/BBQ area is open until 9pm, which is perfect holiday fun when the weather is warm and the kids have a burst of energy.

Yes, the hill is a bit of a killer and I would suggest to the elderely, have ailments or with young children, that you might factor in a little extra cost and hop in a cab (easy to catch) or perhaps hire a car for your stay (lock-up garage with apartment). Otherwise, we didn't mind and it's worth those spectacular views.

The grounds of the Resort look amazing! Jo mentioned they have been spending time on the gardens and gosh, it shows. Beautifully maintained, green, alive & perfect for photos. Noticeable care shows throughout the Resort & other guests we spoke with said exactly the same.
Well done Toscana TEAM!

Port-a-cots can be hired, worth the small fee rather than lugging one with you.
Extra beach towels can be hired, small fee.
Local buses into main shopping centre run every 20mins -stops are easily located & fares are reasonable. ShuttleBus from Able Point Marina or return are easy to book, at $2.50 per person (infants free).

We'll be back & will recommend to our friends. Owners of a business we know the benefits of good feedback & are glad to have the opportunity to rate Toscana Village Resort.
*Walk down along the esplande towards Able Point Marina, it's worth the 15-20min walk. Stop at Sorrento Restaurant & Bar along the way - with waterviews, friendly service and well-priced, good sized meals.

Room Tip: With kids, apartments near the pool area is a must.

Thank you - I am a little lost for words by such a glowing report ! We are extremely pleased that we were able to have a positive experience of the Whitsundays..

We know our resort does not have all the latest and greatest features of the newer ones but we try to create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere and love to hear families enjoying the pools and having fun together...
