as a new local, trying to find a regular quality, good-value-for money salon in the whitsundays, i started at the best looking ones and found that appearances aren't everything. If you are looking for expensive treatments in fully-equipped salons, then theres a few in Airlie Beach. Weather you get the staff and treatments to match the surroundings is questionable.If you are happy to go surching good deals off the boards in the main street and the staff member you talk to looks older then 18, theres a good chance you'll get good service at the smaller salons. That said, Day spa comes under the "'not providing treatments that match the surroundings''. most staff are younger then what you'd expect a beauty therapist to be. didnt like their attitude and the girl i got reeked of cigarette smoke. when im having a facial, that is something i cannot tolerate. I will NOT go back.

We constantly strive to provide the best possible service to our clients at all times but unfortunately on occasion mistakes do occur. So that you are aware; the average age of our staff is 28 years old, however we are proud to employ trainee beauty therapists as part of a structured employment and training program and these may have been the staff that you saw before/after your treatment.

We would like to invite you back for a complimentary treatment to demonstrate the level of service we are proud to offer and believe you should have experienced the first and every time you visit.

It was to be a fabulous spring wedding at Coral Sea Resort.
Everything was booked and ran as planned, until along came the staff from Arlie Day Spa.
We asked where is Matt as we had specifically booked Matt to do the Hair styles. " Oh he is doing another wedding party".
So they start to do hair styles without using any styling products (3 of us have extemely fine hair that need a lot of products to keep in place). Lucky one of the bridesmaides is a hairdresser and doesn't leave home without her whole kit. So she offers product for the Airlie day spa hairdresser to use. The grandmother of the bride hair has gone staight before the rest of the wedding party is finished. The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom look identicall, and the other bridesmaid looks like a 25yr old Shirley Temple with ringlets - how hidious. So now the other bridesmaid ( the hairdresser) really has her work cut out for her. No not tending to the bride but fixing the whole wedding party hair styles.
Then the make up artist starts as each one of us has finished with the hairdresser. This was just as bad as the hairdressing. We all had to supply our own products unless we all wanted to look alike.
The makeup didn't give good coverage and no eyeliner was applied to the bride or the bridesmaids. The grandmother of the bride had no foundation applied just a touch of powder and some eyebrow pencil and was told to apply her own lipstick.

For this we paid $75 for the makeup and $65 for the hair NOT that this is the price we were quoted. At the trail hair and makeup on the bride we were quoted $65 per hour per person. Thinking they would charge as quoted I gave them my credit card number as they didn't have facilities to charge the card at the time. Wow another mistake.

After getting home and finding the credit card transaction was way over what I had expected I rang the salon, after the 3rd time of being told no one was available to talk to me, I went to my bank and cancelled the transaction, and rang to let them know at Airlie Day Spa, then they were available to talk to me.
They adviced they had overcharged because they had not remembered to deduct the cash deposit they had received and they were to send out an invoice, things still didn't add up but I decided to wait to see the invoice before disputing this again.
We didn't get a detailed invoice instead we got a demand for payment without having an invoice. After a few emails back and forward with no resolution. I was finally told it would be looked into properly so I asked for a responce and advised due to my husband having cancer I would not be back to respond for six weeks as we had to travel to Sydney for my husband to have radiotherapy. About 2 weeks after we went to Sydney I found the people from Airle Day Spa hadn't botherd to wait for me to come back to make arrangements with them, they discided to pass on the disputed bill to a dept collector as they new I would not be able to defend any action in the courts as my husband was gravely ill and I was needed to be with him as his carer.
Some people just ripp off anyone they can - don't give them a chance to do this to you.

We are sorry we had to take legal action in this case to recover an unpaid debt. We realise and appreciate from the content of these unfounded and incorrect allegations that this has caused you some distress.

We attend approximately 100 weddings a year and can provide many testimonials from happy brides who were more than happy with the services we provided.

Because of the number of brides we work with we are not able to, and do not guarantee any particular staff member for any wedding. We always try and work with our clients' request but guaranteeing a staff member is not possible.
We realise in the hectic time of wedding planning some information given by us may not be fully taken in by bridal parties, but we always ensure all of our clients look their best and have a great day.

It is unfortunate in this single instance that one member of this particular bridal party notified us some time after the wedding she was not happy and cancelled a payment. Despite some months of negotiation and emails, legal action was the only option we were left with to finalise payment as quoted. In all our years of operation this is the only instance we have had to resort to this extreme method.

We aim to have a 100% satisfaction rating for every client. If anybody has concerns with our services, please feel free to contact us and review our many positive testimonials.

Wow...! If you want to be spoilt rotten, treated like royalty or just pampered too the max than this is the place for you!
The most luxurious treatments I've ever expierenced and such lovely therapist, who will make you feel as if you're in heaven.
I can't think of a better way to spend a lazy day in the whitsundays......

My husband and I visited this day spa in May 2007, as part of our stay in Airlie Beach. It was Mothers' Day weekend, raining, and the numerous day spas in town were all booked out - bar one, the Airlie Beauty & Tanning Centre in the main street. Despite being cautioned by another operator to avoid this particular day spa, we were left with no choice and decided to risk it. Oh, how I wish we hadn't! We had booked in for the Dreamtime "signature package" - a sea salt body buff, followed by an organic clay body mask, finished with a full body massage. We arrived 15 mins early (good day spa ettiquette) to be faced with a 40 min wait. Apparently, another client was still using the room we were to be allocated. The "couples room" we waited so long for turned out to be a small, mezzanine area with two massage tables jammed into it. I suspect the real delay was that they had to rearrange the room to fit in two tables. My husband, at 6'4" tall, was left with his feet dangling over the end of his table - not so unusual at that height - what was unusual was that the therapist had so little room she kept running into him. An on-wall air conditioner, which serviced the entire day spa, was positioned right over the top of the massage tables, blasting the area with icy cold air - not particularly pleasant when you are draped in nothing but a thin towel! The sea salt body buff began well enough, until it became apparent that it was not to be fully removed before application of the clay body mask. There we were, still lying in a bed of chunky salt crystals, when they began to slap on the clay mask. And I do mean, "slap on". It was applied to the front portion of the body only, the exception being that we were asked to sit up for it to be applied to our backs. No turning over, no application to any other rear surface. And it was cold. Never before have I been coated in a cold mask. Some time later, the therapists returned to remove the mask. This was when the real nightmare began. Instead of being taken to a shower facility to wash the clay off (which, as a day spa devotee, I know very well to be the usual routine), the therapists began wiping the clay off with wet towels. The towels were initially heated, however, cooled rapidly under the blast of the air conditioner. After consistent wipings with a cold, wet towel, I had to insist that a fresh, hot one be applied. All the time, I was dreading what my husband was thinking, given he is not the sort of guy who regularly tags along to be coated in a mix of salt and clay. After the rather inefficient removal of clay, the torturous "full body" massage began. It is the only time I have had a full body massage which involved massaging the shoulders, back and legs only, whle lying in a bed of left-over salt crystals. No massaging of the feet or head! The technique used by my therapist was so amateur, I can only think she was roped in as a friend-of-a-friend to fill a void. Despite my requests for a fairly firm massage, she was unable to provide any pressure as part of her technique (the poor girl tried, but she had no idea - and it's not as if I'm overweight or overly muscular). My husband's therapist did know how to massage, so that was one consolation. Another interesting technique - the therapist kept the massage oil in a bowl between my feet. I can only assume the small room meant there was no other place to put it! One false move and the whole thing would have been upended on the floor. The whole experience was so upsetting, I had a massive headache at the end of it, a blocked nose from the air conditioner, and a complete inability to respond to the receptionist when asked, twice, if I had enjoyed it. I just stared at her, dumbfounded, then commented on the fact that I was freezing, due to the positioning of the air conditioner throughout the treatment. The receptionist looked at me in mock suprise and commented that she didn't think the air conditioner still worked! I'm not usually one to tolerate bad service, but given we had been warned, the professionalism of the place was clearly suspect, and my husband was well and truly over the whole thing, I just wanted to get out of there. Oh, and a final insult - after we left, my husband pointed out that the "2-hour experience" had been barely 1 1/2 hours - they didn't even extend the treatment to factor in our long wait in the waiting room, which had been due to their delay! Unlike me, heed the warning - if you are looking for a day spa experience in Airlie, try the Endota Day Spa at the Pinnacles Resort & Spa, the newly opened Spa Allure in the main street or (what we even tried to do) book a day trip to Daydream Island and use their day spa facilities.

Since this review, the salon has been taken over by new management, extended, modernised and now has brand new treatment rooms, therapies plus the facilities and staff to make any guests feel and be treated the way they deserve.
