“Fantastic location, good value and a clean and comfortable room.”
Reviewed October 8, 2009

We only stayed one night, but the hotel is right on the esplanade and close to everything. The reception staff were lovely and the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. We also had a continental breakfast included which was good value. The hotel is very close to the construction work that is going on, but to be honest we didn't even notice any noise.

This hotel is in the best location in town. Great prices (we booked online and got our room for $126 per night including breakfast), great location situated across the road from the water with some nice restaurants below. Rooms were neat and clean and of a good size.

Great location very central, walk to shops, market and restrants. Postcard views from ocean view balconies.
Very clean, good service, good size rooms with cable TV and large flat screens.
3 restants. Highly recommend the mexican bar, especially $8 chilli tuesdays.
Can get room service from all restrants ran by hotel.
Close to Lagoon, and great pool area.
Everything within walking distance, and easy to take day trips to the islands
Had excellent experience here.

My partner, daughter (3 years old) and I stayed at the Airlie Beach Hotel for a couple of nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The room was airy, clean and had a beautiful ocean view. There were two queen size beds in the room, a balcony and pay TV (great for our daughter). The hotel is close to everything but also in a very quiet area opposite the beach. We went to the markets and rode the camels which was lots of fun. Would recommend this hotel to families - we also were able to have a late check-out. Ate at Capers - the food was lovely and they also cater well to people who are gluten intolerent. The children's menus aren't really designed for little ones, I think they are deisnged for older children - Mangrove Jack's is better for kids meals. There is a good playground close by. Airlie Beach is a good base for trips out to the reef and the islands.

Just returned from a month long trip to Ausatralia. We made our way to Airlie Beach and came across this hotel enquired at reception for a 3 night stay and got a 3 nights B&B on a pay for 2 get 3rd night free. Private parking on the first floor, entrance alongside Capers restaurant and easily accessible, room key needed to open barriers.

Had a double room facing the beach/habour, room clean. in-room tea/coffee/fridge facilities. Swimming pool small more of a plunge pool but lagoon just a short walk away with ample space and great views over the harbour.

The hotel has 3 restaurants which you can charge back to your room, we eat in all three; Mangrove for excellent pizza's, service good and very popular. Cactus Jack mostly mexican food we had ribs and chicken, excellent service and friendly efficent staff. Capers the more expensive of the 3, food excellent but serivce very slow and a mix up with our bill at the end, also Capers is were you have the self service breakfast.

There are plenty of bars/restaurants along the front so really spoilt for choice.

A very relaxing place and stunning views.

Stayed 3 nights B&B on the basis of stay 2 and get 1 free. Had a sea view room which had it's own balcony and the view over the beach was very nice. Room was large, well equipped and quiet. Reception staff were helpful and breakfast in adjacent restaurant was fine. Hotel has it's own bar and restaurants but the main strip with loads of bars etc is only a 2 min walk away.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during a 3 month world tour, and loved it! Having looked into a number of cheaper alternatives, we decided to splash out a bit, and went for one of the larger rooms, facing the sea, above the Capers restaurant. The room was very spacious, well appointed, and spotlessly clean. However the best feature was the large balcony, on which we enjoyed a couple of pre-dinner drinks each night, watching the world go by beneath us - very pleasant!

Although as other reviewers have noted, there is no room service, there are 3 good restaurants on site, which can charge to your room. Capers, the more upmarket of the 3, is an especially good restaurant - the seafood pasta I had there one night was the best dish I had on our entire 3 month trip! And it did fantastic breakfasts as well.

As far as location goes, it suited us perfectly. The hotel is located at one end of town, away from the busy and noisy main strip, but handily just a two minute walk from the bus station. We flew in and out of Mackay, a two hour coach trip away. The connections are not all that regular, and on arrival we had a 5 hour wait in Mackay (there is not much to do there at all!), and had to overnight in Mackay on the way out, but so be it. But that meant it was very welcome not to have to lug our backpacks more than a couple of hundred yards when we did get there!

Whilst there we did two day trips. The first was a day on the lurid purple yacht Camira. The wind was non existent so most of the day was under motor, but it was a pleasant day lolling around on deck, soaking up the rays, cruising around the Whitsundays, with a spot of snorkelling and an hour on the beach. The second trip was out to the Reef, which the same company, this time on their large catamaran vessel. To be honest, we were slightly disappointed with the reef - my wife is a keen diver and was the visibility in the water was poor, and the vibrant colours we had expected from the reef did not materialise, but maybe that was because the day was overcast? The trips were quite pricey, but we shopped around a bit and got a reasonable deal - I think we paid about $280 each for the two, both of which included all you can eat and drink. The food was ok, nothing to write home about, but the chilled beer was most welcome. The Camira was only half full when we were on board, so we were lucky. With a full ship I imagine it would be quite cramped and probably pretty raucous!

But the hotel we could not fault. Also the cocktails in Capers were fantastic, probably the best again of our trip. The Bloody Mary's were especially good.

Would definitely recommend paying the extra for a sea view room with a balcony - can't wait to return one day!
