Skipper Nat and his able-bodied first mate Taylor read the wind and the waves as we set sail out of Abel Point Marina and headed toward Hook Island for some fabulous snorkeling and delicious, healthy food. That night, Taylor hung some LEDs from the starboard and handed us a lure with which to catch squid. Mesmerizing to watch. So were the dazzling array of stars overhead. Even saw some meteorites. The next morning, we arrived at Whithavn Beach before most everyone else and played frisbee in the surf with sting rays all around us. Nat was responsive to the group's desire and headed for the best snorkeling areas on the east side of Whitsunday Island. The fish displayed stunning designs and colors, and we also saw a few turtles. My only warning is to bring a hat and lots of sun tan lotion. We had delightful weather, but it can be fickle.
