Visited on Friday 21st September and disappointed to see it still devastated after the cyclone. Hopefully it will be repaired and used again soon.

Nice walk through the rainforest for about 20mins each way with kids. Experience a little waterfall, a few little green tree snakes basking in the sun. Watch out for a few stinger plants on the way. Lovely view from the beach with heaps of coral pieces instead of sand. Satnav in our car looked like you could drive all the way there but be ready for a walk. A couple of small hills and a creek to cross so a reasonable level of mobility required. Worth the trip and nice drive on the way.

Fortunately this Harbour has not changed much in 35 years a few more houses surround and a better carpark but that's about it.
Apparently the Marina washed away during Cyclone Debbie and along with a number of houses and holiday accomodation have not been repaired.
Great viewpoints at the lookout.

Much of the Shute Harbour infrastructure has been destroyed by Cyclone Debbie in 2017. It is no longer the centre of tourist cruises into the Whitsundays. Some heavy duty boating seems to use the harbour now. The big winner seems to be that all cruises now leave from two marinas close to town, overcoming the big distance required when everything left from Shute Harbour. Now a depressing sight.

I was a little taken back at the damage the ladt cyclone unleashed, everything was gone, no pontoons, no shops, no wharf, all gone.
It was still nice to visit, maybe one day it will be returned to its former glory.
